Few Hours Before the Break In

The air in the car was thick with tension, the hum of the engine a low growl beneath the storm raging inside Suhail. He gripped the steering wheel, knuckles bleached white, his jaw locked so tight it seemed his bones might crack. His eyes, once a warm brown, were now a near black abyss, radiating a fury so raw it seemed to pulse in the air around him. This wasn't anger, it was too small a word for the primal, consuming rage that surged through every fiber of his being. His mind churned with dark, sadistic visions of what he'd do to Amaira's captors, their screams a twisted melody he craved to hear.

"Amaira is in a warehouse south of the city," Suhail said, his voice a low snarl, each word sharp enough to cut. He glanced at the GPS tracker on his phone, its blinking dot tied to the watch he'd slipped onto Amaira's wrist weeks ago. He'd been obsessive, planting cameras in her hall and kitchen, trackers on her car and accessories. Back then, it was about control, keeping her under his thumb. Now, it was his only hope of finding her.

Rafeeq sat beside him, his own face etched with determination, but he kept his distance, wary of the volcano simmering in Suhail. He'd seen Suhail angry before, but this was different, a man unhinged, his rage a coiled beast ready to strike. Rafeeq stole a glance, knowing words were useless now. Suhail was a force of nature, his focus locked on Amaira, and saving her was the only thing that mattered.

They sped through Abu Dhabi, ignoring red lights, weaving through cars and trucks with reckless precision. The city blurred outside, but inside the car, tension hung heavy, each second a weight pressing down on them. Suhail's rage was a furnace, but a sudden thought made it flare hotter. He slammed his fist against the dashboard, the thud echoing in the confined space.

"Where the hell are the guards?" he roared, his voice raw with fury. "The ones that are supposed to protect her? They were supposed to be with her, watching her every move! IS THIS YOUR PROTECTION THAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT"

Rafeeq's eyes narrowed, his own anger sparking at the question. "You're right," he said, his voice tight. "They should've been there. What happened?" He grabbed his phone, dialing his head guard, his tone sharp as he barked into the receiver. "Where are the men I put on Amaira? Why isn't she protected?"

The guard's voice came through, hesitant and confused. "Boss, we got a message from you. It said to stand down, that Amaira didn't need guarding today. You gave us a holiday."

Rafeeq's face twisted, his grip on the phone tightening. "I didn't send any message," he snapped, his voice rising. "What are you talking about?"

There was a pause, then the guard spoke again. "I'm sending you a screenshot now, boss. It came from your number."

Rafeeq's phone pinged, and he opened the image, a text message, clear as day, from his own number: Amaira's safe today. Take a break. No need for guards. His eyes widened, then narrowed with fury. "Son of a bitch" He cut himself off, slamming his fist against the seat. "My phone was hacked. Someone sent that message to clear the way for her kidnapping."
