Haseena's POV
my eyes dropped to what he was holding.
My dupatta the same one that had fallen earlier was now clutched in his hand. Half of it was still dragging on the ground, but the other half fluttered from his grip like a captured flag.
He slowly got off the horse. Each movement was calm, controlled, and terrifying. His boots hit the ground with purpose. There was no rush in him. He didn't need to run.
Because he had already caught me.
But not this time. Not again. Not ever.
I refuse to go back to that golden cage where silence screamed louder than words, where my dignity burned in the name of love.
I won't let him win this time.
With that fire blazing in my chest, I turned on my heels. My lehenga swirled dramatically around me, a storm of red and gold. I clutched it in my fists and ran as fast as my legs would carry me.
I didn't look back. I couldn't.
The mere thought of being forced into the role of his wife of being bound to that cold-hearted, tyrannical man set my soul ablaze. I ran with that fury in my veins, letting it guide my every breath, every step.
There was no sound of hooves behind me. No heavy footsteps.
Nothing.
A strange peace started to fill my heart was he really not following me? Had he finally let go?
But even that moment of relief came at a cost. The road was unkind to me. Small, sharp stones bit into the soles of my feet, each one sending a jolt of pain upward. My breath was ragged. My legs threatened to collapse. But I didn't stop.
I couldn't stop.
Because freedom was still ahead.
And he was behind me.
Or so I thought...
I was running... breathless, desperate, wild with the taste of freedom When suddenly I wasn't touching the ground anymore.
Out of nowhere, I felt myself suspended in the air.
A gasp tore from my throat as strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind no, just one arm. The other? I didn't know.
It was him.. I know his cologne
His grip was iron, unyielding. My feet kicked against the wind, my hands flailed to grab anything, everything air, dust, hope. But it was useless.
He had me.
I could feel his warm breath brushing against my ear and neck. My whole body went still frozen, like my soul knew something had just changed.
He had never been this close to me before. Not like this. Not in a way where our bodies touched, where I could feel his heartbeat almost pressing into mine from behind.
My heart was pounding so fast I thought it might burst. His hand was locked around my waist, lifting me like it was easy. His chest was against my back, solid and firm, like a wall I couldn't break. And in that second, I wasn't standing on the ground anymore I was caught in his hold, surrounded by his scent of leather, sweat, and something I couldn't name... but felt deep in my skin.
Then his voice came. Low. Rough. Dangerous.
"I know my little girl always wanted a nice guy... isn't it, Luna?"
Luna.
That name again. That name he gave me like I was his little secret. His obsession.
Before I could even react, I felt his nose brush against my ear. Slowly. Almost lazily. I froze.
