The last chapter!

I'm so excited this story is finally completed, but I'm also scared I'll miss it, I've been working on this thing on and off for more than a year now... And I've left you a huge cliffhanger... Which does mean I'm going to write a sequel to this, and I kind of already have a plot for it.

There are also two big spoilers in this chapter ;)

(So leave your guesses in the comments, I'm so curious if anyone gets it right)

San's POV

I've failed to find his sister.

Guilt is eating me up from the inside, again. After all I've done, all I've promised, I've failed again. I thought maybe if we couldn't find her at once, we'd at least find a clue, a little bit of truth, but we're back to square one.

'I'm sorry', I say out loud, not meaning for Wooyoung to hear it.

'Sorry for what?', his eyes open, blinking away the morning light shining through the hotel room window.

'I promised you I'd find your sister, and I let you down again'

Two seconds of silence

'We're back to where we came from, not a single clue where she is'

'But we know the truth now', he adds.

'We know half of it, we don't know where she is now'

'But we know what happened to her, why she disappeared, why she didn't want me to know where she was. She wanted to protect me from Jongho. She's probably fine now, changed her name, started a new life where nobody knows her past'

'And that's enough for you?', I get what he's saying, but he can't just accept that he'll never see her again.

'Of course not, but it's enough to ease my mind. I can't hate her for leaving me with my stepdad anymore, just like I can't hate you'

'I won't stop looking for her', I tell him, 'We started from nothing once, we can do it again, and this time find her'

He smiles, 'I love you'

'I love you too', I kiss him on the forehead.

'I'm so glad I have someone who will do this much for me'

'This and much more'

He sits up, 'God, I'm hungry'

I chuckle, 'Good, eat a lot, we have a ten hour long flight today'

Wooyoung's POV

It's a lot colder in Seoul, but the sun is shining. A car is waiting for us to drive us back to San's apartment, the drive being another few hours, filled with small talk about music, and even the simplest things like San liking a song I like brings me so much joy.

After finding out he 'doesn't really have a taste in music', I've become dedicated to letting him discover what songs he likes.

Most of the times he'll just nod to songs I listen to, but I've noticed he likes some styles more.

'Listen to this one', I say as I show him another song he's never heard of.

'Wait, I love it, who's the artist?'

'See? You do have a taste in music'

'Okay, you've proven the point, now show me who the artist is'

'His stage name is Mars, I don't know his real name', I turn my phone so he can look at a picture. A Korean man in his twenties showing up on the screen.

'I think I recognise him', San says, but he looks quite worried. I decide not to read into it too much, instead saying: 'He's not the most popular though, but you might have seen him online'

'Probably', he smiles, and with that, we arrive at his apartment.

Once we get to the top floor, I'm surprised at how much this place feels like home to me. It makes me realize it's the first time I ever really felt this way.

'I have a surprise for you', San exclaims.

'What is it?', I'm tired but excited.

'Go take a shower first, I'll set it up'

I sigh, 'You can't just tell me you have a surprise and then make me wait for it'

'Yes I can, now go shower'

I slowly walk away, hoping to catch a glance of whatever he's "setting up", but I can't see a thing. I decide to just shower anyway, I really do need it, after such a long journey.

I keep thinking about it though, but as soon as I turn on the shower the thought of the surprise gets pushed away by a song that's stuck in my head.

I could say I never dare to think about you in that way, but I would be lying, yeah. And pretend I'm happy for you when you find some dude to take home, but I won't deny that

In the midst of the crowds,

In the shapes of the clouds,

In my rose-tinted dreams,

Wrinkled silk on my sheets,

'I don't see nobody but you. Boy you got me hooked on to something. Who could say they saw us coming? Tell me, do you feel the love?'

Before I know it, I'm singing out loud, not knowing whether San can hear me or not, he probably can, I'm singing pretty loudly now, but I don't care, I'm just glad I feel comfortable enough around him.

When I get out of the shower, running a towel through my hair while walking into the living room, San is waiting for me with a box in his hand.

'You were singing that song I liked'

'I didn't realize you could hear me', I lied, 'What's in the box?'

'A gift'

I smile, anticipating, but he doesn't tell me what's in it.

'What is it?', I ask after a few seconds of silence.

'A star'

'A star?'

'Because you're my star'

'What?'

I'm so confused, until he opens the box.

'I know it's corny, but I bought a star and named it after you. This star is yours now'

'The star is mine'

I'll take a few months off posting until I have a bit of a first draft on my laptop, then I'll start posting the sequel.
