Sand, sun, the ocean, who doesn't love the beach?

Basketball players, that's who. Never in the history of basketball had a single team had so much pain in their legs in such a short amount of time. The lack of "bounce" in the sand was also a problem for those who preferred to dribble.

For the boy's basketball team of Tōō Academy, the beach no longer held any appeal. However, for the girl's soccer team, it wasn't too bad. They had the privilege of running on the hard sand near the water. The occasional jog past the shirtless basketball team didn't hurt either.

(Last Name)(Name) was absolutely thrilled when she heard her soccer team was planning a training camp at the beach, and she was indifferent when she heard that they'd be sharing an inn with the boy's basketball team to save money. She'd played basketball for two years herself, but decided it really wasn't for her.

Upon further investigation of the basketball team, out of sheer boredom and a connection with their manager, she began to find the individuals of the team interesting. They all had character, but for the most part, she couldn't care less what they did.

The soccer team had stopped for a water break, by pure coincidence of course (wink), near the makeshift sand-court-thing.

Usually (Name) would be talking to her teammates at this kind of break in practice, but she found herself unable to tear her gaze away from one of the boys playing basketball. He was simply dominating, there was no other word for it. He was very tan with a head of unusually dark blue hair. (Okay, it would only be unusual if (Name) was back in her home country. Not that she was in a hurry to finish her exchange program)

The boy didn't even seem to be bothered by the fact he couldn't dribble. Forget lions, this guy was monstrous black panther and he alone was king of the jungle. (Lions don't even live in the jungle, who made that up anyways?)

She made a mental note to ask Satsuki about him. His presence... It commanded the attention of those around him.

Aomine Daiki was growing tired of this training camp from hell; Mentally of course, it was absolutely beneath him to be physically tired after such a short time spent training. It was all he could do not to snap at Momoi every time she'd say something. After all, she was the one who had tricked him into coming along on this nightmare of a trip.

He tried to forget about the situation and focus on the challenge that this dreadful sand presented to his dunks instead. But, as much as the sand should have drawn all his focus, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was an extra pair of eyes on him. They were burning right into his back and his hands as he made the next dunk. It wasn't a hostile feeling... But still.

Normally stares wouldn't mean anything to him, but right now... He felt a tad self conscious, and it bothered him immensely. Shaking his head, he tried to make up for the feeling with a forceful dunk.

~

Everyone near that makeshift court froze as the sound of shattering glass echoed throughout the beach area.

Silence followed the event and then a 'tsk' from a perpetrator. Aomine stood in the midst of a dangerous marriage of glass shards and white sand.

He was the first to make a remark about the incident, "Well, shit."
