"Hey! ..... Hey! Hey!"

(Name) knocked furiously at Aomine's door, clutching a sheet of paper in her hands, a frown plastered on her face.

She shouted again.

"I know you're in there! Please open up!"

She sighed, if only he'd listen to her, the fight would be history.

~ flashback to a couple weeks before ~

(Name) and Aomine had been together for 3 months, a wonderful 3 months, but the day after they were officially together, (Name) remembered that she wasn't going to be in Japan forever. Those wonderful 3 months were still great, but for (Name), it was like a cloud hung over her whenever she was with him.

Being the idiot he is, Aomine seemed to have forgotten that (Name) was not a Japanese citizen. It was only three weeks before the end of the school year that (Name) reminded him.

She sat down with him in his living room, watching some show about investors and sharks. Her mind was completely focused on how she was going to bring the subject up. It broke her heart that she might have to leave him, but there was hope.

"Hey, Aomine?"

He turned to look at her with a cocked eyebrow, "What's up?" He was immediately suspicious, she usually called him by his given name.

(Name) stared blankly at the TV, "You do remember that I don't live in Japan, right?"

The memories of what he had learned about her at the beach training camp came flooding back. He visibly tensed up.

"Oh."

(Name) continued, "School ends in 5 weeks, and I leave-"

A low groan came from Aomine, who interrupted her, "Maybe you should leave."

"Daiki wait-"

"No, (Name), you have to go."

And with that, (Name) was forced out the door before she could bat an eye.

She stood on the doorstep in shock for a minute, and then turned to pound on the door.

"Daiki, open up! I wasn't done!"

No reply came. Not a whisper.

Eventually (Name) left in tears. Would this really be how it ended? With such a simple misunderstanding? ((Calling all those fanfics out. You know who you are))

What she didn't know, is that the ace had broken down. He sat down on the couch, bent over, with his head in his hands, tears unrelenting.

~ end of flashback ~

It had been two weeks since (Name) had talked to her beloved bluenette. He hadn't been at school, at basketball games, and hadn't been heard from by anyone since the incident.

Hopefully (Name) could make him listen to the rest of her situation. The paper in her hand had solidified her resolve, and her hopes.

She pounded on his door once more, "Come on! You need to hear this! I just found out that I'm coming back!"

The door flew open, and (Name) quietly gasped at the person beyond the threshold.

It seemed to be her boyfriend, but at the same time, it wasn't. He had dark circles under his bloodshot eyes, and his hair was a fray of blue. His skin was slightly discolored and his cheeks ever- so sunken.

He stepped aside silently, staring at her like she was part of some surreal dream.

"D-Daiki?" (Name) took a step closer, the realization dawning on her. She became... Angry.

"Aomine Daiki! Why haven't you been taking care of yourself?!" She dragged him over to a chair in the kitchen, "Sit down while I make you some soup."

"No."

"What?"

"No. Don't make any soup. I need to hear this now."

(Name) rolled her eyes and shoved the paper she had been holding into his hands, "Here. Read this while I cook."

With that, she busied herself making soup, occasionally looking back to watch his reaction.

She was stirring the soup when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist, a chest press against her back, and a chin on her head.

"I... I thought you were going to be gone for good.", she could feel the vibrations of his voice.

A small smile appeared on (Name)'s face.

"I wanted to tell you that there was hope that day. And now that hope is a reality. We just have to be patient."

He spun her around to face him, kissed her senseless, and kept his hands on her shoulders when he pulled away; He looked worlds better already. "I guess I'll never be done being wrong, huh?"

(Name) laughed, "Never."

On the kitchen counter lay the magical piece of paper, an acceptance letter to the University of Tokyo.
