Slowly but surely, the two teams were able to disengage themselves from the accident and call emergency services. At most, the injuries would include a broken wrist or a sprained ankle.

(Name) had been better, but she was lucky to walk away with minimum damage.

Aomine was a tad worse, but his injuries were of the same nature. Cuts from the shards of the windows.

It took way too many police cars and ambulances to shepherd the large group away from the accident. It was almost embarrassing. What if those patrol cars were needed elsewhere, at a much more dire accident?

(Name) knew it wasn't rational to think such things, but that was just her personality. And she needed something to distract her from the trauma.

She and Aomine had been rushed into an ambulance and treated for their cuts. (Name) couldn't help but wince when she saw the gashes on Aomine's back. It was her suspicion that she would have felt all of those glass shards had he not held on to her.

She was awestruck and plagued with guilt at the same time.

It occurred to her to speak up only as they were left alone in a hospital room to wait.

"Thank you." She whispered to him, her voice almost hoarse.

He turned his attention from the sink in the room to her, "Huh?"

(Name) had no idea how to clarify her statement, but she repeated herself just in case he had genuinely not heard her.

"Thank you... I'd be in much worse shape without you."

He mumbled something under his breath and his gaze flickered between her and the floor.

(Name) tilted her head, "Huh?"

Aomine fought with himself to look her in the eyes, and when he finally did, he spoke with conviction.

"I'd save you a million times over."

The simple, yet powerful, statement washed over (Name) like a wave and she was back again to staring at him in awe. It spoke volumes.

Without another word, she stood up and walked over to embrace him, minding both of their injuries.

"I... I'd do the same."

Her words left Aomine breathless, and he gently held her, as if she would take back that statement any minute.

He pulled from the hug to stare at her, "Listen, I-"

Before he could say another word, they were interrupted by the sound of the door opening and the doctor entering.

The two parted suddenly and let the doctor do her job.

(Name) laid her head down on her desk in homeroom, she was beyond exhausted. It had taken so long for her to be released and for her host family to pick her up, that she barely had any time to sleep.

And (Name) had all intentions of making up for that loss of sleep in homeroom. It was quite easy to drift away despite the clamor of students arriving. So peaceful, the desk almost felt soft-

"(Name)!"

"Ah!", (Name) sat up in her seat like a bolt of lightning.

"Wha-What?", She looked around frantically.

In front of her, stood Momoi Satsuki, waving a hand in front of her face.

"Earth to (Name)!"

(Name) took a second to let herself calm down, and then spoke, "What do you need?"

Momoi smirked, "Oh it's not me. It's your boyfriend~"

"Wha-"

Momoi grabbed her hand and pulled her out of her chair, "Come on!"

"Satsuki! What's going on? And he's not my boyfriend!"

"Oh please, (Name). It's so obvious. You two are close to disgustingly lovey dovey."

"What?! N-no!"

"Oh yes."

"No!"

Satsuki merely hummed in response and dragged her to the gymnasium.
