ERLING'S POV
(Erling Tobechukwu Kingston)

The hall is dark, the windows covered and all the lights switched off. A single spotlight cuts through the darkness, aimed at the stage. The big purple curtains are still down, but whispers drift out from behind them.

What do these people want to do?

From the look of things it seems they are about to present a drama- this is going to be interesting. A loud shriek suddenly pierces the hall, drawing everybody's attention to the slowly drawn curtains.

'Damn' Amir mutters beside me

Damn for real

Right on stage are the most elite arrangement of dancers I've seen in a long time. They are dressed in the efik cultural attire, mostly girls and a few guys.

Whoever handled their costume and makeup sure needs a raise

They thrill us with the most impressive dancing I've seen in a while and I'm not even going to lie, they nail it

The entire hall is on their feet at the end of their perfomance. I can’t help but clap aloud alongside the rest of my classmates. These people didn’t come to play for real
Next up….

Amanda
Idara and Noel won the debate, Bolton came second and Savannah came third
(Toke peaked into the score keeper’s record)

I smile at the message. We kinda already knew we would win but a confirmation feels way more assuring

Me
Of course we won. Didn’t you hear those mad bars they were dropping. I trained them well 😌

Amanda
Of course you did 😒

I send a sticker in response which she responds to with another sticker

“Come and talk to your sister, she’s saying they should cancel the dance” Amir’s says, seemingly frustrated

“Ehn?” I reply, confused

Why would Idara of all people want to cancel the performance

“Something about them not being prepare- look just come and talk to her” he turns to walk away

I follow him, quickening my pace as we get to the back of the hall
The dancers are in their costume asides Idara who is probably not planning to dance because of her leg. Noel is seated at the edge of the pavement, his face devoid of any readable emotions

“What’s the problem? Why are you not doing the dance?” I direct to Idara

“Amaka is missing” Mirabelle drops

My eyes expand in their sockets. I shoot Idara and Noel questioning looks but neither of them seems to have an answer

“What do you mean by that? Where’s Nkechi?”

“She’s been trying to reach Amaka since, she’s not doing anything with us until she gets a hold of her” Mirabelle responds again
