Hey guys
It's been a while 🙃 we've not seen since Lagos if I remember correctly?
Anyway... returning to Abuja holds different experiences for different people. Some good, some okay, some dreadful (yk who)
Dive in tho 😙
EDMOND'S POV
(Edmond Ehizojie Thompson)
"I'm super proud of you baby" My mum says as she pulls me in for the third hug
I take in her scent with a deep breath, enjoying the comfort of being wrapped in my mother's arms. My dad is overseas- and for the first time in a long time- without my mum.
"How did you convince dad to let you stay back here?"
She shrugs silently, I give her a puzzled look when she doesn't say anything else
"I just said I didn't want to go" she shrugs again
"Really?" I ask sounding unconvinced
"Really" she chuckles "Don't I have a say on whether I want to go with him or not?"
I pull away, sitting up straight
"No mum, not usually"
"That's not true come on" she laughs again "Your dad is not that bad, he just... I don't know- comes off as the wrong way sometimes"
I let out a scoff- comes off the wrong way
"Or has he hit you recently?" she pushes back on my shoulder with an expression of concern
I shake my head silently. I stopped telling her when he hit me, according to her he's changed- towards her at least but that's enough for me. No constant yelling at each other, less crying and more smiling for her. Maybe it's just me he still hates
"I will still speak to him though so that he never does again. If he says he wants to change then he has to stop hurting you too" she says with a straight face
"He said he wants to change?" My eyes expand in their sockets
She nods in affirmation
For that man to say he wants to change; it means he somehow has acknowledged that there is something inherently wrong with him- the man that I know would never accept that about himself. He's never wrong in his books.
I sit silent as a thousand loud thoughts run through my head while my mum talks about everything she did with her week
"- fashion show next weekend"
"Say it again- what did you say?" I ask her to repeat herself
"Amaron empire- your friend's mum- sent me an invite for her fashion show next weekend"
"She's hosting a fashion show? That's so cool" I say, smiling at the thought of it
"Would you like to come too?"
I consider it for a moment and almost agree but a reminder of the weekend getaway I have planned out with Espn crosses my mind
"No I can't, I have plans sorry" I say politely
She nods casually, her choice not to probe further shocks me
"Oh well let me allow you enjoy the rest of the evening I have a spa appointment to get to with the girls" she props herself up, slowly sauntering away
"What 'girls'? You don't have friends" I say with a look of astonishment
"You really think so?" she winks then shuts the door to my room quietly
