Life after talking to Abraxas seemed easier. I visited families who were broken by my father. I told them that they no longer had to worry about my father. He was dead. Their faces looked so relieved. I felt hurt but I just wanted them to start over and continue with their lives. I knew it would turn out in the end. Finally the day came when Lance arrived.
I had word sent to me one morning by a female elf. I knew then that my destiny was just starting. I wore a black shirt and tan pants. I braided my hair in the back. I knew that this would change me. With regret I followed the messenger towards the entrance of the city.
There were two elves standing side by side. Even from far away I could tell that they were both very pale. What shocked me the most was their horns. I knew which one was Lance. His face was battered with scars and also his horns were twisted around his head to resemble a crown. He was taller than most elves and also a bit more muscular. He had long blond hair that fell down his back. On his side rested a blade.
His partner was especially more strange. He had no hair but a jagged scar on his bare head. Red eyes looked disdainfully at Ten and at me He only looked like a boy but I knew looks could be deceiving with elves. The two still had not set their foots across the line into Alyania. It looked like I had to give them permission.
“Ten, what a surprise to see you. You haven't changed a bit.” Lance's voice said coldly.
“Neither have you. Rose, tell Lance he can pass over and no harm will come to him.” Ten said.
“Why do I have to do it?”
“You are the Halfbreed. They will only listen to you.”
“Lance, I welcome you to the city of Alyania. The City of Elves. It will finally serve its purpose.”
“You stink of human. It makes me sick.” Lance's partner said.
“Carth, must I tell you she is not human? She is the legendary Halfbreed. The last of her kind. She will finally reunite us with your uncle.”
“I don't want that to happen. I like things just the way they are.”
“Carth, please, step into the City of Alyania.” I tried to say but my voice cackled from fear. Carth was his younger son. He still wasn't old enough to have horns yet. Abraxas warned me about people despising my thoughts about reuniting the elves together. This was only the first taste in having people hate me.
Suddenly Lance and Carth stepped into the city lines. Their faces grew happy.
“Finally, after all those long years. Its good to be home brother.” Ten and Lance hugged. I smiled. My destiny was growing closer and closer to being complete. Carth stood there. A frown still creased his mouth but when he saw his father happy he smiled. Then his red eyes stared into mine. A burning hatred flamed to life in those small pupils. Fear krept back into my heart. It seems someone has not forgiven me. “Where's the wine, brother? We should celebrate! We haven't been like this in 600 years! A good party would bring back the life to this place. What do you say?” Lance boomed.
“Why not? After the ceremony is finally complete we will have a feast in all of our honor. Tomorrow evening. How about that?”
“Perfect. I'll have my people come and make camp. Rose, can I talk to you for a second?” The tall elf led me to a secluded place, still grinning with excitement. “My son, he was raised by my wife who has hated the Halfbreed race for her whole life. She taught her son so many bad things. I've tried to change him but he is a rock like his father. Do you think you could, you know, help him out?”
“It would be my pleasure.”
“I heard what you had done to Alagos and I think you can help my son. It would be greatly appreciated. Oh and one more thing, he likes to fight. Maybe that will spark that imagination.” He smiled and walked away.
I sighed. Another person I had to change, maybe he would be easier to sway. I walked up to Carth and smiled.
“You want me to show you around?” His red eyes pierced my soul with anger.
“No. I'd rather not.” He said coldly.
“You're father told me to show you around.” I knew that Carth never disobeyed his father. I could tell by the way he followed him around.
He sighed. “Fine. I need to get away from this old geezer anyway.”
I showed him around the city. I still saw the anger. I finally led him to the training grounds. Maybe he just wanted to let loose some steam.
“You want to let loose some steam? I can be your opponent?” I asked.
His eyes flared up. He knelt down and grabbed an elven cleaver and also a shield. “I've wanted to fight you for some time. I've dreamed about this day. I'll beat you and show the whole world that you're a failure.”
“Carth. There is no need for anger. If you want to fight then a fight is what you will get.” I drew my sword out and imagined a broadsword. A bright light surrounded the arena and suddenly felt a heavy sword in my grasps. The words Retribution glowed on the blade. I smiled. He had no idea what he was up against.
He charged first. A yell erupted out his mouth and echoed around the arena. I deflected his blow with a twist of my hips. Soon sword clashings were heard around the city. Anger rose in his eyes. Each time he struck I ducked and weaved around his blade. Then our swords met with a clash. I smiled as I whirled his sword around until it left his hand. Now he was defenseless. He stared stunned as he saw his sword left on the ground. I didn't notice until it was too late. He had drawn a dragger and was charging me.
I saw the blade draw closer and closer to my chest. Something was wrong. I felt something growing inside me. My hands started to feel a great pressure as I lifted them up to stop the blade. Suddenly a great force pushed him Carth back as he slid on the ground.
“What was that?” He said. His red eyes looked frantically at my hands.
“I don't know. Look I'm sorry.” I looked at them and saw smoke rising from my palms.
“No its okay. How in the world?” I was frightened. This new power in me had been uncovered.
“Carth, lets go. Don't tell anyone okay?”
“Sure. I'll keep a secret. Hey and I'm sorry that I treated you like that earlier. It was not right of me to do that.”
“Thanks for saying that.”
“What do you mean?”
“I've helped someone to overcome their anger but they still haven't forgiven me.”
“Well you know elves. They sure like to hold grudges. Let me talk to him.”
“No. He just needs some time to think. Come, everyone's waiting for us.”
