Chapter 4

Aiden’s POV

It was the most beautiful scent in the world. It smells like strawberries and a hint of coconut. It was absolutely beautiful. I have never smelt something so beautiful and I believe I won't smell anything more beautiful. My feet dragged me into the room before I even know I'm moving.

Kian, my brother, is in the room with a weird expression on his face, but at the moment I didn't care. I as more focused on the mouthwatering scent that was coming from inside the cage. I didn’t have time to process, why I was attracted to the smell. But a small voice in my head kept saying a word I couldn’t quite understand. When I finally did understand what it was saying, I couldn’t believe what it was.

Mate.

My mate. The one I have been waiting for since I first learned about them. I still remember the day my dad first told me…

*Flashback*

 

I was sitting on my race car bed I got when I was only five years old. I was six years l and was living the dream life. I had everything I absolutely wanted. My father was tucking me in and out of the blue I asked my dad about mates. I’ve heard the term many times at school, home, and out in public but I never really understood what to means. 

“Well son, a mate is a person you spend the rest of your life with. Your other half that you can’t live without. You would do anything for this girl and be anything for her. You will stop at nothing till you see her smile, laugh, and listen to her talk about everything.” He says with sad smile on his face.

“How will I know if she is my mate though?” I said confused but excited.

“Oh son, you will know when you find her.

“Dad, when I find my mate I’m going to treat her like a princess. She won’t have to do anything and I will do everything for her. I will get everything for her also.”

“Okay son.” My dad kisses my forehead and leaves my room.

*End of Flashback*

 

            Now that I finally found my mate, I have no idea what to do. I stand there like a freak just staring at her. Her eyes are stuck on me like mine are on her. Then she faints.

            I get to her quicker than I ever have with anyone. I open the cage with force that I never even knew I had.  I get burned by the silver but I fight past it and continue my way to my mate. I sense fear as I get closer to her and it is so strong it almost brings me to my knees. I get up to her and tear the chains on her arms and legs off. The silver that touches my skin burns and leaves a horrible mark on my skin but at the moment I could care less. My mate falls helplessly to the ground.

I drop to the ground next to my mate and slowly pick her up in my arms. Excruciating pain shoots through my body and I instantly want to let go of her, but my body is paralyzed. I start to see back spots before my eyes and soon I black out, but pulled into something I never seen before.
