-AUTHOR'S POV-

In the drawing room of Saanvi's house, Madhav sat at the very edge of the couch—like a guest who accidentally showed up to a rishta meeting instead of a normal visit.

Saanvi's mother hovered like a loving storm, feeding him ghar ka khana with her hands—no escape, no mercy. Behind him, her little brother zoomed a toy car across the back of the sofa, occasionally bumping into Madhav’s shoulders. And across the room stood Saanvi’s father, arms crossed, eyes squinting—as if judging whether Madhav deserved a oxygen cylinder.

Saanvi sat on the stairs, chin resting on her hand, a faint smile playing on her lips as she watched the circus unfold.

"Aunty! Bhot achha khana bana hai, lekin ab mera pet bhar gaya hai—" Madhav tried to speak, his tone polite, but his mouth was ambushed by another piece of roti packed with sabzi.

(Aunty! What a delicious food, but I'm full)

“Arey beta aur khao na! Itne se kya hoga? Kitna pyaara ladka hai...Saanvi ke liye bas aisa hi ladka chahiye" her mother beamed.

(Oho child eat more na! What will happen with this little? What a lovely boy you are...need a boy like you for Saanvi)

"Arey mummy! her younger brother cut in loudly, "Pyaara toh mera Spider-Man hai! or in bhaiya se zyada handsome b—" before his words could finish—

(My spiderman is also lovely..and more handsome than this brother)

"Chup kar!" Saanvi’s mother twisted his ears. He yelped like a puppy caught chewing homework. Madhav smirked in satisfaction—just earlier he winked at him, when Saanvi kissed his cheeks to make him jealous

“Ja jaakar didi ke saath baith!” she snapped.

(Go! Sit with your sister)

Her brother stomped away dramatically like a mini Bollywood villain and sat beside Saanvi, folding his arms.

“Madhav, tum ruko…our roti leke aati hoon,” aunty declared and disappeared into the kitchen again.

(Madhav, you sir...I'll get more chapatis)

As soon as she left, Saanvi’s father stepped forward. His eyes scanned Madhav head to toe like a CBSE invigilator watching a student who looks too confident during exams.

Madhav instantly sat up straighter, pretending he hadn’t just been half-choked by a fifth roti.

His mind said, I am perfect why I'm feeling nervous..

but his heart whispered, "But am I perfect enough for Saanvi?"

Saanvi, seeing this happening from the stairs, jumped in.

“Arey papa! Upar vale bathroom ka na nal kam nahi kar raha hai… voh jaldi se sahi kar do!”

(Oho Papa! The tap in the upper bathroom is not working... correct it quickly!)
