She's truly beautiful, I think to myself, as I stare into the eyes of Mom's third and final baby. Her soft blond hair, and the gray-ish blue eyes that sparkle like the moon. She looks up at me as she sucks her thumb. She was only born a week ago, and today was the day we finally saw her. She was as light as Bear, if not lighter. Her name is Willow, like in the song.
Speaking of Bear, he has finally been reunited with his true owner, Rye. Rye literally burst into tears when he saw his pet lynx, and ran forward to hug him. Bear ran forward and was purring madly in his arms. I felt completely forgotten by Bear, which was a big wounding, but it made up for it by seeing the happiness in Rye's eyes.
Me and my brothers meeting once more was nothing compared to theirs. He merely came up to me and said, "I knew you were strong." I hugged him and said I was stupid, but he kept insisting I was strong and brave. Then that's when Bear walked into the room for the first time.
I cradle the soft, new baby in my arms. I can still smell the new baby smell as I hold her gently in my arms. Willow was usually sleepy, and good baby so far. No crying, no wailing. Only quiet murmurs as her gaze traveled along our house. We moved all of our stuff back while Mom was in the hospital with Willow, but we didn't get our animals back. Papa said we won't until later. Right now, he's happy with his new daughter, and he finally gets to return to his job at the bakery.
As I promised, I helped Evan remodel his new home. I picked out some cloth for over his new windows, and the new carpet for the flooring. We went to the Governor and asked if it was true that Evan could legally own his father's old home/cabin thing. He sighed and said yes. I did a little happy-dance on the spot, and Evan said jokingly that I wasn't getting any quieter. And the Governor thanked us both and gave us metals, Gale too, for saving the town and it's gold.
When I told my mother that I survived because she taught me archery, she was overjoyed. She hugged me and said, "I told you you would need it." I smiled and said I did, and I was thankful.
The best part about our return, was finally meeting Gale's family. A young five-year old boy, a seven-year old girl, and a boy two years younger than me; fourteen. Their names were Catnip--which I thought was a strange, yet pretty name for the girl--, Tymon for the seven-year old, and the older boy's name was Cetus.
When I first met them, I was polite. But mom, on the other hand, was nearly in tears with her hand covering her mouth as she hugged them. Catnip first.
Gale's wife is named Madge Hawthorne. She seems familiar in some way, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Katniss hugged Madge tight and whispered something to her, but I didn't hear. Instead I struck up a conversation with Cetus. He's a bit. . . reserved, I guess. He doesn't really give out a lot of information about him, and he's apparently into hunting, like his father. His brown hair but blue eyes resemble both his parents. His younger brother has lighter brown hair, but blue eyes too. Catnip is the odder one, with her blond hair and amber eyes. But she's terribly funny for a five-year old, and she has a bright spirit.
It seems alright, for both our families. Rye has a new friend-- Cetus, and Bear, of course. Catnip has an interest in Willow, and Gale and Katniss talk while Papa and Madge talk. Tyrone likes to go off on his own, even though we invite him over. Evan is often near our house, since he lives so close. My parents know we're. . . dating, I guess you could call it. They are actually happy for once, that I am living on my own, for myself. Not literally. I still have to stay with my parents, but me and Evan go on lots of walks. Mainly pass the new gold digging site.
In my own words, it's perfect. Everything is.
