Chapter One
Bailey's POV~
I had just finished packing up my last box before I would load up the moving truck. Today was the day that I finally got the chance to move to California. I've been stuck in Arizona for 5 years, just waiting to be set free by my parents. Once all of my furniture and and moving boxes were in the truck, I kissed my parents goodbye and headed out to California. I cranked up the music in the car and rolled down all the windows. My long blonde hair whisked through the wind as I sped down the freeway.
I finally reached my destination after hours of driving. I looked to my left and saw a sign saying "Welcome to Huntignton Beach." I was stoked to have finally made it here. I pulled up to my apartment, stepped out of my truck, and stretched. The moving truck was only about a minute behind me so it pulled up right after I got out of my truck. I ran up to my apartment door, unlocked it for the movers, and yelled to them, "Just put anything anywhere!" I quickly changed into my wetsuit in my car, unhooked my surfboard from my roof, and took off running towards the beach. Considering that my apartment was only a minute away from the beach, it wasn't a long run.
Wesley's POV~
"C'mon dudes! I'm tired of waiting!" I was standing by the front door of my apartment with my surfboard under my arm waiting for my best bud Drew and my little bro Keaton to finish getting dressed.
"We'll be down in a sec, just chill!" yelled Drew. We had all made plans to shred some waves today at the beach.
Finally, Drew and Keaton ran downstairs and we took off to the beach. As we got there, we set down our stuff, strapped the cord to our ankles and ran out to the water together. We all sat on our boards for a while waiting for a good wave. Finally, one came but Drew was the one to catch it. Keaton and I still sat there talking, until I spotted someone out further catching a really good wave.
"Dang, she's pretty good," I said to Keaton, looking out across the ocean.
"Yeah, she is. Go talk to her! Ask her if she wants to shred with us," said Keaton.
"No way dude, what if she thinks I'm weird," I said anxiously.
"She won't, just go," Keaton said, reassuringly.
I paddled over to where she was, leaving Keaton and Drew behind. Right as I was about to reach her, she took off to catch another wave. I decided to follow her and try to ride the same wave. Although, that wasn't a smart idea. As I stood up on my board, I yelled to her and she looked back. As she looked back, she lost her balance and came flying backwards into me. We both crashed into each other. She came up out of the waves coughing uncontrollably. 'Oh shit,' I thought to myself.
"Are you okay?!" I yelled over to her as she was struggling to get back onto what was left of her broken board.
I paddled as fast as I could over to her, being lucky my board was still in one piece.
"Are you crazy?! What's wrong with you?!" She started yelling at me uncontrollably and my heart sank. I felt so bad that I had done that.
"I'm really sorry, I guess I just wasn't thinking. I came over here to talk to you." I said, bringing out a smile.
" To talk about what, how to kill me?" She said, still extremely angry.
"No, no not at all. I was over there sitting on my board and I noticed you out in the distance and thought you were pretty good at surfing. So I wanted to come and say hi." I explained.
"Why am I still talking to you? I have to go now..." She said, as she started to paddle away.
I sighed, thinking of how to truly make it up to her. I started to paddle after her until she yelled back to me, "Don't even think about following me!"
I watched her as she made it to the shore. She laid out a towel, put her shades on, took off her wetsuit revealing her peach colored bikini and laid down on the sand, basking in the sun.
She had a killer body. She was already tan, nice curves, and an all around toned body. She clearly visited the gym.
I still felt really bad so I decided to paddle back to shore and get her something. I walked over to the snow cone shack, "Two blueberries please," I asked the cashier as I pulled out money to pay.
I walked over to where she was laying and stood right in front of her to where I completely blocked her sun, causing her to sit up.
"Yes?" she asked rudely.
"Here," I held out the snow come and basically shoved it in her face. "I really am sorry for what I did."
She just continued to look at me but then finally yanked the snow cone out of my hand and began eating it.
"Can I sit down?" I asked her, nervous to what her response would be.
I could tell she thought about it for a while but then she patted the spot next to her. I plopped down next to her and introduced myself.
"I'm Wesley," I said as I smiled a big grin. "You can call me Wes if you want though."
"Wesley, I don't know you very well so I don't think I should already be calling you by your nickname. But I'm Bailey," she said with a smirk.
"Okay, fair enough. Well it's nice to meet you Bailey. Are you enjoying your snow cone?" I asked her, trying to make other conversation.
"Yeah it's alright. Thanks for this by the way," she said as she half smiled.
My heart fluttered as I finally saw her smile. It was cute and beautiful at the same time. I had a hint of hope that she was starting to forgive me and starting to like me.
" I like your smile," I blurted out, instantly regretting what I had just said from seeing her reaction. Her expression changed but then she smiled an even bigger smile.
"Thanks, I've never been told that before," she said, slightly blushing.
"You're welcome, you deserve it," I said smiling back. She smiled again.
Suddenly, I had remembered that I had to get home to get ready for dinner tonight. Keaton was bringing his new "girlfriend" and so was Drew and we were gonna leave in a few hours. Then I remembered that I would be 5th wheeling.
"What?" she asked, noticing that so was thinking of something.
"Do you wanna go to dinner with me tonight?" I blurted out again, regretting that I was taking this this fast.
She looked confused and I could tell that she was thinking about it.
"You don't have to if you don't want to, I know we just met. But I wanna get to know you, you seem pretty cool. Also, it would be with my brother and his girlfriend and my friend and his girlfriend.
She was still thinking about it but finally she smiled, "Sure I'll come," she said, enthusiastically.
She handed me her phone and opened up a new contact. I immediately knew what to do so I have her my phone to do the same.
"Pick you up at 7," I said as I smiled and jumped up.
"Sounds great," she said, her smile being ear to ear.
