Bella's POV:

"EDWARD! NO!" I screamed as the boxes smashed over Edward. Books tumbled everywhere and some of them hit me over the head.

I scrambled to my feet and rushed over to the pile of debris, shoving splintered wood and musty torn pages and book bindings to the side.

I felt the warm blood ooze out of my cuts as I splintered my hands further, but I ignored it. I couldn't see Edward anywhere.

I began kicking the stuff to the side, whimpering when my ankle twisted painfully. I think I sprained my ankle when I fell earlier.

Suddenly, I moved one big book and I saw a tuft of messy bronze hair. "Edward!" I cried, and began frantically shoving more planks out of the way to uncover an unconscious Edward.

I pulled him out of the debris and laid him down on my lap, looking at all the cuts he had all over his arms, legs, and face.

"Edward, baby, please! Edward talk to me, please!" I picked out some of the splinters out of his cuts and held my fingers over them so he wouldn't bleed too much.

"B... Bella?" Edward sighed, opening his eyes slightly.

"Edward!" I cried, and Edward raised his right hand to stroke my cheek and wipe away the tears streaming down my face. I held his hand there.

"Are you okay?" Edward asked, sitting up a bit.

"The question is, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Edward stood up and I did too, holding my arms out in case he collapsed.

"Bella, really, I'm okay," he assured me, and he picked some splinters out of my face. I winced, and he smiled apologetically.

"My hands are worse," I told him, holding them out to show him.

"My God, Bella, what did you do?"

"I wasn't worried about my hands while I was trying to get to you."

"This is probably going to be infected. We need to find a way out. Do you know how worried Esme probably is?"

"I already checked my phone. No signal,"

"Crap," he sighed, looking around. Only now did I realize the size of the room. It was about fifty feet high, with creaky wooden beams in cross-cross patterns along the roof.

"How'd you escape?" I asked him, sitting down on the cement floor. He sat down next to me.

Edward's POV:

"How'd you escape?" she asked me, sitting down. I did the same.

*flashback*

"Where is Bella?" I asked, struggling against my ropes.

"She's with Mike. They have a... date," Jessica told me, kneeling down in front of me.

Suddenly, I got an idea.

"Have you always had those sparkles in your eyes?" I asked her, leaning forward. She smiled.

"Yeah, I guess..." she giggled.

"You know... if I'm tied up, I can't kiss you..."

Jessica ran behind me and cut me free immediately, and I ran out of the room.

*end flashback*

"Oh, you know, I just managed to break free." I told Bella. What? There was no way I was going to tell her that I did that!

"Oh," Bella said, standing up. She walked over to the large barn-like sliding door and pushed it.

"Locked," she said, turning and sliding down the wall to the floor.

"I bet I could break it down," I told her. I couldn't stand seeing her hurt like this, and I really didn't like the look of her hands.

"No. No way, you just got tackled by hundreds of books. You need to take it easy," she told me, holding her hands on my chest to hold me back. I felt the blood soak my shirt.

"Sorry," she told me, taking her hands away. I grabbed them and wrapped them around my neck, and then I wrapped my arms around her waist. I leaned into her ear.

"I promise you, I will make sure we get out." I told her, before pressing my lips gently to hers.
