Remington

I have yet to figure out a plan. Nancy isn't much help.

"I think we should just ignore the whole thing and pretend it never happened. That's what we've been doing for the last two years anyway," she says. She's lying on her bed while I'm pacing around the room trying to figure out what to do.

"We could just ignore it. Except what if the guy tries to kill us. We could send him to jail," I say.

"I don't even remember what happened. I've been trying to block out what happened since freshmen year, it's been working so far. This sucks."

"I think I'm just going to destroy the video," I say.

"Wait, maybe we should just take it to the cops."

"Nancy, we can get charged for not saying anything two years ago."

"I know. But, it's just, that woman had a life Remington. We could have stopped what was happening. She could still be alive now if we had done something."

"Or we could both be dead."

"But we're not. Whoever that lady was, she most likely had people who cared about her and a family to take care of. They have no idea what happened to her."

"I have an idea," I tell Nancy.

"What?"

"We investigate. We're going to find out who that lady was. Then we're going to see what her life was like. If her life was really worth something and if some people really miss her, then we'll go to the cops."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." No I'm definitely not sure. I saw a crime happen and I didn't say anything. I could go to jail as an accessory.

The thing about Allenville is, if you ever leave the house, you are bound to see at least five people you know, no matter where you end up going. I recall seeing that lady, the one who was killed. I've seen her at least four times in my life but I can't remember where.

"Do you want to start now?" Nancy asks me.

"No, I have to go to work."

"Where do you work?"

"Best Buy."

"Awe, are you part of that nerd squad thing?"

"It's called "Geek Squad". But yeah I am," I respond.

"Can you give me a lift to the mall then?"

"We aren't supposed to be hanging out. It'll draw attention."

"I'll go in the backseat. No one will see me. And we're not hanging out, I just need a ride."

"Fine."

On the ride to the mall, I remember that Nancy went to homecoming with Warren.

"So, did you and Warren have fun at homecoming?"

"Yeah, he's really fun. At first, he was just covering up for me. You know, I told him to be my fake boyfriend so that Amelia wouldn't say anything. But I think I'm actually starting to like him."

"Oh, really?" This can't be good.

"Yeah, he's cute. We're going to hangout this weekend."

"That's great," I say even though it's the exact opposite.

"What about you?"

"What about me?"

"Do you like someone?"
