Jenna
"Ms. Withers, do you have any clue who your father is?"
"Do you think I would be living with my best friend if I did?"
I'm being questioned by detectives for about the fifth time.
"Did your mother ever say anything about him?"
"Just that she had no clue who he could be."
"Do you mind if we take blood from you?"
"I guess."
At this point, I don't care what they do. I don't care if they find my mother, because either way she's out of my life and I'm happy for that.
"Haven't you ever wondered?"
"I guess. I wonder all the time. But there's nothing I can do about it."
"Okay, thanks Jenna. We'll call you if we need anything."
"Okay, thanks Detective King."
I walk out of the police station and walk back to Kennedy's house.
Kennedy is still at her art club and no one else is home.
I lay down on the bed and look up at top bunk. The bunk bed is wooden and has carvings and doodles that Kennedy made.
I look at all the doodles and I notice all the different ones threat I haven't noticed before.
There one right above me, it's like someone was playing tic-tac-toe. Whoever was the X won.
When I see the X, I remember about Xander and almost freak out. I haven't talked to him since Nolan kissed me. I've been so involved with my mom and my new life that I completely forgot about him.
I run to Kennedy's laptop and log onto the chat room. There's tons of messages from Xander.
~Rosebud123~ I am so sorry! I have been so busy I haven't been on lately.
He responses immediately.
~XanderMaster~ So busy that you forgot about me? Your Prince Charming?
~Rosebud123~ I didn't forget about you.
I kind of did forget about him, but he doesn't have to know that.
~XanderMaster~ It's okay. My life has been kind of crazy too. What's been going on?
Should I tell him about my mom? I don't want him to think I'm weird. But I know Xander, he'll understand.
~Rosebud123~ My mom is a fugitive. The police are looking for her and she's no where to be found.
~XanderMaster~ Oh wow. I'm sorry. Why?
~Rosebud123~ Murder. She killed the lady that lived down stairs.
