Remington

This is all truly Nancy's fault. If she hadn't been failing Algebra, we wouldn't be in this situation.

It all started in the beginning of freshmen year. It was after school and Nancy walked up to my locker.

*Flackback*

"Hi, you're Remington Pierce right?"

I looked up to see Nancy Beckham, one of the popular girls.

"Yes."

"I need your help with something."

"Okay."

"I'm failing Algebra. I heard you're really smart. Can you tutor me?"

"Sure. But how are you already failing? The school year just started."

"I haven't turned much in and I already failed the one test we've taken."

"Oh."

"Yup. So meet me at the woods behind my house tonight at eight. Okay?"

"Okay."

"Do you know where my house is?"

"Yeah."

"Great. See you tonight. Oh and bring your Algebra book."

It had crossed my mind that she only wanted to meet in the woods because she wouldn't want to be caught dead in public with me. I'm a nerd and she's popular. We just don't clash.

That night, I met Nancy in the woods behind her house at exactly eight o'clock.

"Hey."

"Hey, Remington."

"I brought my textbook."

"Good. Let's go deeper into the woods so we have absolute quiet," she said. But I knew she just didn't want to take the chance of anyone seeing us together.

Once we walked for five minutes, she sat down on a huge rock and I sat down right next to her.

"I have a headache," Nancy said.

I looked up at her. "It's probably that hair clip. It looks too tight."

"You're probably right." She took it off and placed it on the ground next to her.

As soon as I opened the book, I heard a loud bang. I dropped the book on the ground.

"What the hell was that?"

"It sounded like a gun shot," Nancy said.

The bang came again.

"Where is it coming from?"

"From over there," Nancy said and pointed in front of us. We slowly walked towards the sound and through the trees.

"Stop, look," Nancy said. There was two people. A blonde woman who looked familiar and a tall figure in all black. I was too far to see the persons face.

They were arguing about something, but I couldn't make up exactly what they were saying. The one in black had a gun and was pointing it at the blonde.
