"Honestly, Accelerator, you have the coolest powers. I am sorry for your backstory though," Shido softly spoke as he emptied a soda can.
The two now found themselves outside of a convenience store.
"It's fine," Accelerator replied as he emptied a coffee can.
A grim look appeared on Shido's face.
"I mean, you have cooler powers than me. You literally fought in World War 3 in Russia. You got to live what mostly happens in fiction in my world. I'm just scared that I might fail," Shido said grimly as he stared emptily at the soda can he finished.
"Look, we're all going to die either by something that's our fault or not. Might as well do it for someone we care about," Accelerator grimly replied, imagining Last Order waiting for him with open arms back in Academy City.
"I mean, I can go out normally, and with all my superpowers, I could still get hit by lightning or even a meteor. Or some stupid country launches a nuke on me, and that's the end of me," Accelerator continued.
"I mean, sure, you're not the classic good hero, but at least you're not some loser who goes out and acts like an asshole calling himself a world-class villain or hero, either out of some delusion to hide something," Accelerator went on.
"Look, umm, Shido. I don't want to sound like a bigger ass, but from what I heard from the red brat, you're soon going off to a war of your own, and you have to be prepared to adapt and develop. As someone who has been doing this shit since I was a fucking child, it's not going to be glamorous like what you see in Hollywood, anime, and manga. Of course, you can prepare all you want, but something unexpected will happen. Still, it doesn't hurt to help and prepare," Accelerator continued.
Shido then took a deep breath, enjoying the remaining calm.
"Well then," Shido said as he walked in front of Accelerator.
"I'm heading back home. What about you?" Shido asked with a smile.
"I just want to be alone for a while. I really don't want to listen to your sister nag me to death," Accelerator replied, unfazed and irritated, making Shido laugh.
"Alright. Thanks for everything," Shido said as he walked away.
Accelerator then took another coffee can. He lifted his head, staring at the moon as it stared back at him.
On this night, Accelerator was full of sighs, looking up at the stars.
He was done waiting for a miracle. He would make one.
Accelerator's peaceful solitude then ended as he heard footsteps from boots.
"Oh, long time no see, bitch in the red dress," he greeted flatly.
"Long time no see indeed. It seems you still have a dirty tongue," the voice replied, revealing herself to be Kurumi Tokisaki in her usual red astral dress.
"Let me guess. You are worried I might break your useful power boost," Accelerator taunted with a wolf-like, explosive grin.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I just want to make sure Shido is still usable," Kurumi replied playfully as she licked her lips.
"I know your full character story. First-ranked Level 5 esper of Academy City, Accelerator," Kurumi stated confidently as she leaned in closely to Accelerator, her face really close, making Accelerator feel things that may or may not irritate him.
"So, you used magic Google. Big deal. You should make sure the memories you take are real. They could be hallucinations, delusions, false memories, schizophrenia, or dreams. There are many ways my memories could be misinformation that don't require high-tech science or fantasy magic. So don't think you have me figured out," Accelerator explained as he drank his can of coffee.
