Read this NOTE before the start of this chapter:

There will be some tagalog sentences but then I will be putting the translation at the end of the chapter.

The guy looks as young as Dara, but I forgot how old Dara is. Did they asked for this boy's help in carrying the bags? No. He and Dara seemed to know each other. But if Dara's living here in our house, then this boy also? Is he Dara's boyfriend? Mom didn't told me someone's with Dara.

"Darling, Klaire, are you going to stare at them for the whole time?" Dad told me, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Uh. . I wasn't staring. It's just that.." I looked at Dad, then to Dara and the boy then back to Dad again.

"Oh, let's get inside first, then I'll introduce them." Dad said and then I nodded.

Dara and the boy (because I don't know his name yet), sat on the couch as Dad told them, they looked so exhausted. I hadn't had taken a closer look on the boy's face yet. But now that he closed his eyes, I can also tell he's a good looking boy despite of his skin color, tan. He has broad shoulders and a very black color of hair.

"So . . . " Dad started.

The boy opens his eyes and caught me eyeing up on him. I looked away.

"Welcome to our house! Klaire, I guess you already know your cousin, Dara, and her friend Mahonri. Dara and Mahonri, this is Klaire my daughter." Dara came near me to kiss me on the cheeks, which I also responded with a kiss, and "Welcome home, Dara."

"Thank you, Klaire." Then she smiled.

And I was again surprised that the boy, well his name's Mahonri, came near me to shake hands. "Hi, uh . . . "

He smiled, and said "Hello. Sorry for my presence, I won't stay longer than two days."

I raised my eyebrow, asking for further explanation.

Dad answered, "He's staying here until tomorrow. Because the school's dorm would not be open yet until the following day."

I nodded and faced Mahonri. "I don't mind. Besides, you're Dara's friend, not a total stranger." And then I smiled.

"Thanks, Klaire." They said in unison. And they faced each other smiling widely. Is there something between these two? Are they more than friends?

"I guess you're all hungry now. Let's go eat. I prepared chicken adobo , salad and macaroni. Forgive me if the adobo won't taste the way you were used to."

"Oh, it's alright Klaire, thank you for the effort but any dish would do."

"But eating your favorite is a lot more happier when eating especially when you're tired."

"That was so thoughtful. Thank you so much."

"You're welcome. And if only I had known you're with someone, I would have also cooked his favorite."

Mahonri and Dad laughed. And also Dara.

"Gusto yata ako nitong pinsan mo ah. Una nahuli ko siyang tinititigan ako, tapos gusto din akong ipagluto ng paborito ko?" (1)

Dara laughed even louder.

"Grabe ka. Haha. Mabait lang siguro yan at siyempre kinikilala ka lang niya kanina kaya siya nakatingin sa iyo." (2)

I can't understand what they are talking about. Not even a single word was familiar to me. I didn't mind them, maybe they are just talking about something funny. I started putting some adobo in a big bowl. As soon as I had put the adobo on the table, Klaire came out from the bathroom now looking fresh.

Mahonri, Dara and Dad was already seated around the table but Dad stood up.

"There you are Klara, your cousin and her friend just arrived. Come join us."

She nodded. And pulled a chair.

"This is Klara, Klaire's twin sister. Klara, Dara and Mahonri."

"Enjoy your stay here." Klara said in a sweet voice. I guess she's just flirting with Mahonri. Knowing her, she loves being around cute guys.

"Thank you." Again, Dara and Mahonri said in unison. Then I also pulled a chair.

I was about to get some rice when Dara interrupted by saying, "Can we bless the food first? Sorry for interrupting."

Prayer. When was the last time I prayed to bless the food and to call on the supreme being they called? I can't remember.

I nodded. We bowed our head and waited for Dara to pray.

"Heavenly Father . . . " Mahonri started. I looked up only to find out Dara and Mahonri had closed their eyes.

"We thank thee for guiding us in our journey here from Philippines. We're also grateful for Dara's relatives who welcomed us here. We're grateful for all the foods that were prepared. We're grateful for the blessings you gave us. Bless this food that it may give us strength and healthy body. Continue to help us do what is right. In Jesus name, Amen."

"Amen." Dara and Dad said and also Klara.

I gulped. Then said, "Amen." The prayer I just heard was not familiar to me. It's not how I used to bless the food. Now, I'm curious of their beliefs.

"Let's eat!" Dad said.

"What's this?" Klara asked, pointing the chicken adobo.

"Chicken adobo." Me and Mahonri said in unison.

I think today's the day of two person talking at the same time.

And I don't know if it's just my hallucination or maybe Mahonri really did smirked at me.

"Klaire, your Chicken adobo's delicious!" Dara exclaimed.

Mahonri nods his head, and also Dad did the sames as he takes another sip.

"Let me try." Klara said and tasted it. "I'm not familiar of the taste but wow! It's delicious! You have to teach me niece, I mean sis."

Mahonri raised his eyebrow a bit as if wandering why Klara had called me her niece.

"Sorry, I'll explain to him." Dara said and then turned to her right where Mahonri was seated, just in front of me. "Mamaya na lang. Ha?" (3)

"Sige lang." (4) and then he smiled.

Dad clears his throat. "Anyways, when's the start of your classes at BYU Dara?"

BYU? That's two ride from here. And what I only know about that school is, it's a school for Mormons. Why don't they study then at my school, Rexburg College of Massage Therapy, it's nearer. But wait, then they're Mormons?

Translations:

1. "I think your cousin likes me. First, I caught her eyeing me. Now she even wants to cook my favorite?"

2. "Haha. Maybe she's just kind. And of course she just wants to know you that is why you caught her eyeing you."

3. "Later. Okay?"

4. "Sure."
