"There she is!" Mike exclaimed as Brooke walked down the hallway in her ring gear. "Excited for the debut?" He asked.
To say she was excited for her match that night was an understatement. Brooke had been waiting for this day her whole life. She had only wished her mother would have seen it.
Mike and Angel had been standing outside of catering with Jon, awaiting Brooke in her ring attire. "You bet your ass I'm ready," she answered, smiling. Jon chuckled as he shook her shoulders in excitement.
"I wish they were giving you more time," Jon said, noting how most of her match would be during a commercial break.
Brooke shrugged. "My time will come."
Brooke knew that she was young and lacked experience. Getting an opportunity to have her first match on Dynamite rather than AEW Dark was already a blessing in itself. She wouldn't complain about any chance she was given. The blonde was luckier than most.
However, Brooke also thought about how different this experience would be in the WWE. Renee would be there with her, as well as Mercedes and Pam. Those girls checked in on her all of the time, proving their friendships despite how challenging it was with their schedules.
She saw her Elite friends every week and they just seemed more and more distant as time went on. Of course, that was partially her fault due to her scuffles with Tyson, but she thought Matt and Nick would at least try to catch up. And while Cody did his best to be supportive, it seemed like all-business anymore.
She missed how things were before she debuted. If she would've known how much strain this would've put on her friendships, she wasn't sure she would've done it again. Yet again, if she chose WWE, she wouldn't have any friendships to salvage, anyways.
Brooke's blue eyes caught another pair walking towards her. The curly mop on his head gave himself away. Tyson and Brooke were still avoiding one another, and she hoped it would stay that way seeing as she was with three other guys at the moment.
Normally, Brooke was the one approaching Tyson, especially during this time. So, when Tyson called her name, saying Brooke was shocked would be an understatement. Jon even furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. If he was being honest, he didn't think Tyson had any man left in him to look the girl in the eye.
The group turned towards Tyson as he walked up toward the group. Brooke felt a lump form in her throat. The last time she talked to Tyson, she confessed her thoughts on joining WWE knowing he wasn't a fan. If the rest of her friends found out, they would feel betrayed.
Normally, she wouldn't question Tyson's loyalty to her. But now, Brooke had no idea what to expect.
"Can I, uh—talk to you for a second?" Tyson stammered, nervously. It wasn't unusual for him to speak that way, so she was sure Mike and Angel had no idea what was going on. But Jon did, they both knew that.
