Jimin had the honour of visiting the Empire twice in his life. The first time, he had gone with his mother when Y/n was born. The second time, he attended the funerals of the Emperor and the Empress.
Jimin always took pride in his ability to remember and notice things out of sight. So his blurred memories of a place as extraordinary as Joseon after he came back had puzzled his mind. He had witnessed his mother having the same symptoms, so he had brought it up in hopes that she would question the odd phenomenon. But his mother had only smiled at him, as if she knew something he did not.
He had always been too curious. So he had studied every book available to him about the Empire and learned that it was a common effect the Empire left on many visitors. No wonder there was so much secrecy. There is an old as the land spell cast over the wards of the Empire.
That was one of the reasons he had kept Jungkook close at first. Surely someone born inside the wards would remember things an outsider could not. Jungkook did remember certain things differently, but those also stopped at a certain point.
Now, standing before this beautiful phenomenon once again, Jimin understood why the spell was cast in the first place. Joseon was the heart of Korea, the Empire that took over most lands and kingdoms throughout the country. Protecting the heart was the key to protecting the country.
Golden, dark towers, unlike anything he has seen stood over elevated lands. Pearly, waterfalls look like liquid gold as they fall from underneath the lands hovering in thin air. Lavish boats and rich buildings surround the enormous towers. And an impressive forest wilted with gold autumn leaves wrapped around the entire Kingdom in its graceful arms, followed by never-ending mountains.
The dark brown of the mountains contrasted beautifully with the black and gold of the exteriors. Even the trees are wrapped in the essence of gold.
Jimin might not remember everything, but he can tell there have been slight changes. For thousands of years, with so many Emperors and Empresses who have ruled Joseon, no one has dared to touch or rebuild the towers and the castles. Through time, the buildings were made sturdier, but the designs remained the same.
After the passing of the last Emperor and the Empress, there was a great collapse. Jimin assumed most of the buildings were destroyed. His impressive fiancée has reconstructed them just as they used to be.
There is gold everywhere, showing the endless riches of the Empire. But it is the intricate buildings and the glistening waterfalls that took his breath away. It is the never-ending sky that hangs over Joseon with a million sparkling stars. It is the woman who rules it.
Yet, as he continues to stare, something starts to feel odd about this place. Like a zing in the back of his mind telling him something is wrong.
"It is breathtaking." Taehyung breaths out as he takes a step closer, fascinated eyes running over the kingdom before him. It is currently engulfed by the night sky and silence.
