Y/N POV:

I place my textbook, pencils, and calculator before me on the table, pulling out my class binder from my workbag and putting the binder beside the textbook. I open my binder and pull out the assignment due today, closing my binder immediately after and putting the paper on top of my textbook.

"What, you trying to show off your homework again, Y/N?"

Ugh. C/N.

C/N sits down next to me, leaning forward with his elbows on the table. He leans his head closer to me with a mischievous grin, clearly trying to piss me off. Again.

"It's still better than you, C/N, who most likely hasn't even finished it at all."

C/N scoffs and rolls his eyes, leaning back in his seat.

"I so finished it. Unlike you, I just don't try to shove it in anyone's faces and make them think I'm all high & mighty."

I hear Mr. Greenridge approaching the entrance of the classroom and I suppress a smirk, leaning a bit closer to C/N and whispering into his ear.

"As if you're not currently trying to make me think you're better than me."

"You fu–"

"Afternoon. I would say good afternoon, but based on how you gaggle of hooligans is behaving so far, I don't believe it's exactly going to be a good afternoon."

Ah, yes. Mr. Greenridge. One of the least optimistic, yet most hilarious teachers I've met since I first got here.

Mr. Greenridge sits at his desk and downs the first half of his thermos of 'coffee'. I'd be surprised if it isn't actually just a concoction of a couple energy shots, a questionable amount of liquor, and maybe a smidge of coffee stolen from the teacher's lounge, but I guess that's beside the point.

"Let's just cut to the chase, class. Homework out. We're going over it."

Everyone else mumbles out annoyed 'yes, Mr. Greenridge' s and pulls their assignments out, except for me, since I already had mine pulled out. I can practically feel C/N's glare on me from my right side, making it a bit difficult to hold back the urge to laugh.

"We'll start from the first section and go from there. That said, can anyone tell me the answer to question one?"

Rianna, one of the smartest people in our year, decides to speak up from the back of the classroom.

"I– it's B..."

"Correct, Rianna. The answer is B: 'snake venom'. Question two, anybody?"

Atlas, a rather quiet guy in the center row of our tables, responds to Mr. Greenridge this time.

"Lizard scales."

"Also correct. Number two is answer C: lizard scales."

Atlas cheers to himself quietly, smiling and evidently not realizing that we can hear him. I notice C/N about to say something to him and I give him a stern look that screams 'don't you dare'. He promptly closes his mouth, going back to focusing on reviewing our assignment.

"Question three, anyone?"

Everyone's quiet for a few seconds before C/N looks down at his paper with a smug expression, looking back up and raising his hand confidently. Mr. Greenridge lets out a hefty sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose with his index finger & thumb.
