Y/N POV:

"That's what I said! And then she had the audacity to look at me like I was the one in the wrong."

"Seriously? Wowwww."

I continue listening to (best friend)'s story in shock, her telling of the chaotic events becoming more entertaining with every sarcastic comment she makes. She closes her to-go box from her leftovers from our bestie date last night and throws the styrofoam ( e w w w w ) container in the nearest trash can.

"Anyway I need to get back to my shift in the next two minutes or I'll get lectured by the manager again, so I'll talk to you after I'm done working in a couple hours, 'kay?"

I nod and end the call with a quick 'bye', taking the last bite of my own lunch. I toss the paper plate into the trashcan in the kitchen, putting the fork in the nearly completely full sink.

Before I leave the kitchen, I take a quick look at the sink again, thinking over my current situation and getting an idea.

"Both C/N and I have been too busy lately to do chores, so I should do that today since I have the day off today."

I pull all of the used dishes from the sink and set them on the counter beside it, switching the sink on and putting it on the hot side. I grab the most recently used sponge and cringe when I see how dirty it is, my nose scrunching a bit in disgust.

Time to replace it.

I attempt to drop the used sponge into the trashcan, only for it to entirely miss.

Shocker.

I pick it up from the ground with a small 'ew', putting it in the trashcan properly this time. I wipe my hands off subconsciously and go back over to the sink, reaching under it and pulling out a new one. I run the new one under the water and rub some dish soap into it, waiting until thick, foamy bubbles start to form in & around the sponge. I pick up a plate from a few days ago and run it under the water to loosen up any old food debris, using the sponge on it after a moment.

Just as I begin rinsing the soap off of the now clean plate, I start to feel a bit awkward in the silence. I quickly turn off the water and wipe off my hands, grabbing my phone from the dining room. I find a clean bowl from one of the cabinets and put it on one of the counters, opening my music app and beginning to play one of my playlists. I turn up the volume to the loudest I'm comfortable with, which doesn't end up being nearly as much as usual due to the fact that I put the phone in the bowl for better volume & acoustics (fun fact, this is actually something that works if you wanna try).

This music should help me feel more comfortable.

I go right back to washing the dishes, not wanting to lose motivation before I finish doing them. My movements slightly quicken as I become more comfortable, humming along with the song softly to myself. The motions come to me with increasing ease as I sing & dance along with the music with decreased stress. Before I know it, I'm practically putting on a performance for myself while I do my dishes.

C/N POV:

I pull out my keys to Y/N and I's apartment and put the end of one of them into the keyhole, turning it to the side and opening the door. I'm putting the keys back in my pocket when I begin hearing some music coming from the living room.

Hm. Odd. Y/N usually uses his headphones to listen to music, even when he's home alone (same).

I decide to check on him, wondering what he could be doing. I make sure to stay quiet as to not disturb him, peeking my head in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. I notice him almost immediately, my heart skipping a beat at the domestic sight of him listening to music loudly, dancing in a way that he never lets anybody else see due to his typical shyness.
