Zach POV
I sat on the couch lost in thought.
"I really can't believe Mr. Avery did all this for me" she gushed and man that just brought up our conversation from earlier.
"Yea me either" I say still lost in thought.
"Zach, you okay?" She was.. no she is HIS daughter. She's going to have a panic attack when she finds out all this time she been living with her dad.
Now wonder her mom had been acting strange around him... but why not just confess?
Now come to think of it she kinda does share similar facial features with him.
"Zach!" She snapped me out of my thoughts. "Sorry baby what were you saying?" I said leaning towards her.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" She caressed my check with a look of concern. I smiled. I knew she still had love in her heart for me.
"Nothing baby, I'm just thinking about tonight. Making sure that I didn't forget anything" I leaned forward and kissed her on the lips.
She chuckled "everything's going to be alright"
"So long as you don't get caught on fire again" she laughed at me shamelessly. I just shook my head. Obviously my wife thinks my pain is hilarious.
"That's how you feel?" She covered her mouth in attempt to hide her laugh.
"You have me for a joke" I joked and she continued laughing. "Baby Danny fell over laughing" I joined her in laughing.
"He's so dumb man" we quieted down and I took the time to stare into her eyes. Suddenly the air got thicker in here.
"Thank you for everything you're doing Zach" I shook my head "ain't no question babe" I leaned forward and kissed her. The kiss quickly deepened and before I knew it Nichelle was straddling me on the couch.
"Where the birthday girl at??!!!" I sighed after she pulled away. She got up off my lap and sat next to me. "Later" she mumbled. But still I was annoyed. I was finally getting somewhere and everybody kept interrupting. But be patient Zach. Good things come to those who wait.
"Oh there she at" she came in with a basket of goodies.
"One time for the birthday b, one time for the birthday b" Nichelle laughed but got up to hug her friend.
"Oh hey Zach, didn't see you there" I waved at her "hey Chantel"
"So I got us a reservation at the spa for today, I already told Mr. Avery to babysit Amira if that's okay with you both?" She looked between me and Nichelle.
I mean that is his grand daughter. The thought of that really turned my stomach. I don't know how Nichelle will take all this when she finds out.
"I'm fine with it" Nichelle said before looking at me "if you cool with then I'm cool with it"
"Okay great!" Chantel said clapping. I got up and began making my way to the exit. "I'll see you ladies"
Nichelle came up to me "Zach"
I looked at her "yes baby" I say with all gentleness and I see her soften up. "See you later at 7" I nodded and she leaned in to kiss me and I more than willingly gave her what she wanted.
"See you tonight" I felt like a blessed man. I left and went ahead and continued following up with everybody that's working on Nichelle's special night.
