Storms

Sometime through the night you woke up to the rain pounding harder, and even if you were only on the third floor of the four floor hotel you could hear the drops hammering down against the roof of building. You shivered a bit, realizing that you'd somehow knocked the blankets off of your body slightly so your hips up were exposed to the cold air. Your eyes widened as you heard a crack, and you knew it wasn't just Marco's elbow cracking from the chill or Jean's hand hitting against the side of the bed. You jumped and whimpered a bit at a second crack, only this time louder, followed by a bright flash of the lightning. Truth be told, you were terrified of storms, especially thunder storms; to this day you still ran to your father whenever they happened in town. Jean felt the bed shake and groaned slightly as he furrowed his eyebrows, only opening his pale brown eyes when he heard you whimper again. His eyebrows stayed furrowed as he looked at you. "Hey...what's wrong?" He questioned sleepily with a small yawn, only fully awaking when he saw the small tears in your (e/c) eyes. "Hey hey hey, don't cry. Tell me what's wrong." You felt one of his strong arms make its way around your waist, gently pulling you into his chest as he pulled up the covers as well to hide your shoulders down. "I-it scares me..." You whispered, trying to ignore the rumbles from the thunder outside. Another loud boom came from the lightning, making you nearly scream as you buried yourself further into Jean's warm chest. Jean gently rubbed your back, nodding. His touch was comforting, and made you calm down ever so slightly. "Just count between the booms." "W-what...?" You asked quietly, tiling your head up in a way so you could see Jean, your cheek still pressed against his chest. "Count between the booms, that's what I used to do with my mum." He said softly as another loud crack sent you burying yourself into his chest again. Soft murmurs of Jean counting under his breath let your mind stay focused on him. "11-" Jean was cut off by a slightly softer crack of lightning, no sound coming from you, though you still jumped. He kissed your hair line gently, his lips chapped but soft at the same time and warm against your skin. He began counting softly, and you soon found yourself counting with him. "15-" Thunder sounded again, but it sounded farther away, and much quieter. "See? It's going away." You nodded, but didn't dare move away from the boy holding you in his safe embrace. "Thank you Jean..." You whispered, kissing his shoulder tiredly. He nodded, continuing to rub your back soothingly as you slowly fell back asleep.
