A/N: Long as fuck, but I want to get to the stuff I recently wrote so... enjoy 5k words ahahahahha

It was day 10 when Canary finally convinced him to join the team for their daily training. It wasn't all of them, just Blue Beetle, Impulse, Artemis, Superboy, and Aqualad. The others were apparently 'out with their civilian friends', though Nico didn't see how a green kid could have civilian friends who didn't know he was a super hero, or at least a meta human, but he let it slide. Who was he to question what they did in their free time?

Nico was sitting on the floor, his back to the corner of the room so he could see everyone within his peripheral vision. He had done all their warm up and training, but they had to wait their turn for the holo-pad and sparring with Canary, so he pulled out his knitting supplies.

The day had been fine up until that point, but being surrounded by the others was setting off his nerves for a reason he couldn't understand, yet the repetitive actions of the needles somehow tricked his mind into being calm. He didn't know why it did—Steph had said something about neurotransmitters and cortisol something-or-others—all he cared about was that it worked.

"Are you knitting?" Bart said with a laugh, not really in a mocking way, more in a 'this is really funny to me right now' kinda way.

Nico paused, shooting a look at the speedster with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah, you got a fucking problem with that?"

Bart immediately put his hands up in surrender. "Nope, just wanted to confirm. Can you make me something?"

Nico kinda just blinked at him for a moment before blindly reaching into his 'knitting tote', as Steph had dubbed it, and grabbed the first thing he touched, throwing it at the ginger.

Bart caught the dark red hat and beamed, looking genuinely excited. "Oh my god, really? I can keep it?"

Nico looked at him in confusion, not understanding why he was so excited. "I mean... sure?"

Bart did a weird kinda fist pump thing in excitement before immediately turning around and yelling to Jaime, who'd just gotten his ass handed to him by Canary, "Yo Jaime! Ghost gave me a hat! I'm totally his favorite!"

Jamie whipped around at that, his bruised pride immediately forgotten as he changed course to go straight towards them. "What? No fair!"

The duo began bickering, Nico just blinking at them in confusion, before he let out a sigh and grabbed another item from his bag, chucking it at Jaime.

The scarf hit him right in the face, but you would have thought he won a million dollars by the excited look he got, holding the scarf in the air victoriously. Jaime immediately began taunting Bart, the ginger arguing back that he got his first, but Nico just rolled his eyes and continued on with his project.

He had just about finished the dark green sweater when the lights in the room suddenly went out. The emergency lights kicked on a moment later, but everyone was immediately on alert. Canary called for everyone to gather around her as she grabbed her tablet. Nico didn't hesitate to put his things aside, leaving them in the corner, and joining the others. Something felt wrong and he would have given anything to have his powers back, even if it was only for a moment, just to see what was going on.

"Security feed is offline and I can't access the backup drive until the power comes back," she said, swiping through a myriad of screens on the tablet. "It looks like all systems, including the doors and zeta tubes are off line, which shouldn't happen in a power outage... I'm going to send out a distress signal to the JL to let them know what's happening. It might be nothing, but I'd rather not risk it."
