"Listen Naruto, its not that easy. Its not something that you just add on and you don't even know how to do it yet. I bet you don't even know the nature of your chakra right now."

"Huh, it has a nature?"

Kakashi releases a sigh.

"I kind of figured it would be difficult to make you understand all of this. OK, listen very closely. There are five basic types or natures of chakra, fire, wind, water, lightning, and earth. The five great nations took their names after the five chakra natures. They are the foundation of all Ninjutsu, and the foundation of all things we learn as shinobi."

"Whoa I had no idea."

"Most everyone's chakra falls under one of these five natures. For example members of the Uchiha clan have fire natures, which is why they excel in fire style jutsu's. Wind style leads to wind style jutsu and lightning style leads to lightning style jutsu. Like the Chidori which is a lightning style jutsu."

"Wait so that means that Sasuke has two natures going for him? Both fire and lightning."

"That is right. As for you, you have no nature. We don't even know what nature you have." Kakashi says as he pulls out pieces of paper from his weapon pouch and holds them out.

"What?"

"So we are going to find out using these slips of paper."

"How are we going to do that?"

Kakashi focuses chakra into the paper and it wrinkled up. Lightning chakra.

"If you have a lightning nature like me, the paper will wrinkle. If you have a wind nature, it tears. A fire nature will make it burn. A water nature, the paper becomes wet. A earth nature, and it crumbles away. These are litnus papers. They react to chakra. They are made from a tree that grows on chakra. Just let your chakra flow into this and then we will learn what nature you have Naruto." Kakashi says and holds out some paper.

Naruto walks up and takes a paper.

"Okay." Naruto says to himself and focuses his chakra into the paper.

A few minutes later the paper rips. Wind.

"Well, now you know. Your chakra nature is wind."

"Wind huh?"

"It is a chakra perfect for battle. It can rip and sever anything in its path."

"Oh yeah! I knew it! I'm unstoppable!" Naruto shouts happily.

"Hold your horses. We just now figured out what it is. Now is the hard part how to properly use and control your nature."

"Let's do it!"

"The problem is, is that it take a incredible amount of time to master this technique. Time that we don't have. But the good news is that I found a way to cut our training time considerably."

"Awesome."

"The one way to do that is to-"

"Huh?"

Yamato comes jumping over.

"Captain Yamato? Wh-What are you doing here?"

"Kakashi thought my special expertise might make of use he asked me to help you with your training. Sorry I hope I'm not interrupting anything Kakashi."

"No, not at all I was just about to-"

"Hey Captain Yamato, which one of the five chakra natures does your wood style jutsu fall under? Huh?" Everyone looks at Naruto like he has another head.
