Before I Was Bitten: Chapter One:

My senior year in high school, he shows up. He's the mysterious, tall, pale, bright blue eyed, quiet guy that everyone's falling for, and when you walk through the hallways you hear his name in every conversation. Adrian Rowland.

He walks through the halls like he owns them, like nothing can touch him. His walk says he's arrogant, and I never thought that I would fall for a guy like that, but lately, he's all I can think about.

The day he caught my eye was the day that I knew I couldn't live without him. He has this magnetic pull that no matter how hard I try to resist the urge to be near him it only gets stronger the more I stay away from him. Sometimes I wonder if it's meant to be.

This is the third week of school, and the halls still buzz with talk of the new guy. It's break time right now, so I am on my way home to eat lunch with my mother. My father is away on a business trip to London. He's making a lot of money from the bar he started close to here, but now they are interested in starting one of the bars in London.

I have three siblings. One older brother named Charles, one older sister named Marie, and a baby brother who was just born named Jack. My older brother takes place of my father when he's not here, and does his best to keep everything running perfectly for him. Mother says that Marie has went off to college and she should be getting home today because of break. As for me, mother and father say that I should be wary of the gentlemen around me because of my tall hour glass figure, fiery red hair, and my emerald green eyes.

But anyways, as I was walking home I happened to cross Adrian Rowland's path. Hoping that I wouldn't have to converse with him for fear that I might say something foolish and put shame on my name. I kept my head down and didn't look his way, but somehow we ended up colliding into each other.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled as I moved around him and kept walking, but as I walked away I felt a cool hand gently touch my arm.

"It's fine. Could I ask your name?" he said as he made me face him.

"Mother always told me to not talk to people that I didn't know." I kept my head down.

"Then how do you get to know people?" he said chuckling a little bit.

"I guess there's always a first for some things." I whispered.

"So what is your name then?" he asked as he tilted my chin up.

"Cecilia Claire. Might I ask your name?" I questioned to be polite.

"Adrian Rowland. It's a pleasure to meet you, Cecilia Claire. May I walk you home?" he asked in a gentlemen like fashion.

"I see no harm in it, and I assume you would keep me safe from anything dangerous that would happen to cross my path." I said with a faint blush creeping to my cheeks.

"I shall do my best, kind lady." he said as he gave me a smile that made my heart flutter, and offered me his arm.

I took his arm and we walked the mile from the school to my home. We made polite conversation, and not once did I get a wrong or bad feeling about Adrian Rowland.

As we neared the house, Adrian stiffened as if he were ready for a fight. I then noticed that there was something wrong, something was off about the house. We slowly walked forward and that's when I heard baby Jack cry. I figured surely that mother would get him within a second because she never left him out of her sight, but his cries just got louder and louder.
