The Fairy Man: Chapter Six:

I made it into town way before I thought I would, and I kept my eyes away from the people. From up on the horse I could barely smell them, which made it easier for me to keep going.

I had just made it to the edge of town when I heard a whispered cry of, “Help me! Help me, please!”

I looked down to my right where a building shaded a small figure, or at least it looked small from where I was sitting.

I hopped down from the horse, and went over to the figure. His blood smelled sweet, but it also smelt wrong to me.

“What happened?” I questioned the figure as I got closer to it.

“I was attacked!” I saw that it was a boy about my age, and he did look hurt.

He had long gash wounds on his side, and what appeared to be teeth marks on his legs.

“What attacked you?” I questioned, not realizing that I was becoming alert, and my fangs were sliding out.

“Werewolves. Do you know what I am, vampire?” he said suddenly.

“How did you know that I was a vampire?” I hissed.

“Your teeth. You never answered my question.” He said softly.

“No I don’t know what you are.” I responded.

“I’m a fairy.” That confused me even more than I already was.

“Well then, fairy, how can I help you?” I questioned him.

“See the shop across the street?” he questioned.

“Yes.”

“That’s a witch shop. Take me there, and they should help me.” He said in a hush voice.

I helped him stand, and then walk over to the shop, once in there I called out, “Somebody help me!”

A girl about my age stepped out of a door, and smiled. She had auburn hair, electric blue eyes, fancy styled hair that was pulled up into a curly elegant bun, and she wore the kind of dresses that I liked.

She took one look at me, and then looked over at the fairy, “Oh dear.”

She rushed over to me, and help the fairy over to a seat in the middle of the shop.

I didn’t look at him to see what he looked like.

“My name is Elizabeth, what’s yours?” she said to me.

“Cecilia Claire. Is it safe to assume you are the witch?” I said quickly.

I had to get to my house before the sun set.

“Yes. You can leave him here with me. I’ll take care of him for you.” She smiled at me.

“Thanks. I must be on my way now.” I said and then I headed back outside to my horse.

I hadn’t even looked around the shop, but I had notice the ball in the middle of the table. It was clear and looked like it had some kind of liquid in it.

I climbed back up onto my horse, and then continued towards my house.

My house was dark, I hear no laughter, and I sensed no life. It felted drained of all energy. No happiness came from the open windows and doors, and I could still smell blood from my mom, and siblings. Seeing this again, made me want to cry, but I wouldn’t allow myself to.

I climbed off of the horse and went inside to the sitting room, where there were painted pictures of my family.

I sank down in the middle of the floor, and looked all around me.

I saw my father sitting in his study chair in one of the pictures, there was a family portrait, and one of me by myself. I had a large smile on my face, and I knew that in that picture I had been happy.

I heard a sound at the door, and I stood up, and dashed frantically for the shadows near the back corner of the sitting room.

My father came in. I could feel his blood pounding through his veins, and I could sense his sadness. The monster in me rejoiced, the human in me, sobbed.

I walked forward and he turned to look at me.

“Cecilia? What happened here? Cecilia, are you okay?” I couldn’t stop.

I began to sob.

I took him by his shoulder, in a vice like grip, and said, “I’m so sorry, I can’t control myself!”

And then, quick as a snake, I buried my fangs into his neck.

I don’t remember me letting him go, or me sinking to the floor beside him sobbing like a child, I do remember when it got dark, and I do remember hearing the howling of wolves in the distance.

I felt numb, and my mind refused to function. I grabbed my father’s hand, and continued sobbing. Something was wrong with me, and I had to figure out how to stop it.

I got up from the floor a little after dawn, and went back outside to my horse. I climbed onto her back, and headed back to Adrian’s house.

I had to tell him what I had done.
