A few days had passed since the Turboforce's has started their training session. The children were getting stronger and faster to a point where Izuku believes they can handle themselves, against a villain, but as the one responsible for them, he told them not to engage a villain unless either a hero or himself won't make it in time, or the hero/authoritiea are there to deal with it.
The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, casting a golden glow over the breakfast table. Eri sat between Izuku and Ochaco, happily munching on her rice and eggs while Melody floated nearby, bobbing to the rhythm of her quiet humming.
Izuku sipped his tea, eyes fixed on the television. The news anchor's voice cut through the peaceful morning.
"In breaking news, several pro heroes have been found critically injured or missing in the Naruhata District. Authorities believe the attacks are connected. Witnesses describe the assailant as masked, armed, and terrifyingly fast. Locals have begun calling him... the Hero Killer."
Izuku's grip on his cup tightened. His eyes narrowed, jaw clenched.
Ochaco noticed. "You're thinking about it, aren't you?"
"I don't know yet," he said, voice low. "But if someone's out there targeting heroes... I can't just ignore it."
Just then, Torbolt floated into the room, his eye blinking with urgency.
"Izuku," he said. "We've received a secure transmission from Max and Steel. They need to speak with you. It's urgent."
Izuku stood, already moving. "Got it."
Ochaco rose too, brushing her hands on her apron. "I'll stay here and—"
"Wait, hold on," Izuku interrupted gently, causing her to stop in place to look at him with wonder.
"Hm? Yeah?" she asked, watching him rub the back of his neck.
"Um... so, about what Max and Steel said..." he began, eyes darting to the floor. "I was thinking... maybe you could, uh... come with me?"
Ochaco blinked. "Wait—me? I thought I'd stay here and help with the house and the kids' training."
"I know, I just—" He paused, cheeks already turning pink. "I mean, you've been training hard. And your new Turbo Modes are amazing so I thought... maybe this could be a good chance to test them. In the field. With me. I mean—not with me like that, just—"
Ochaco's face flushed too. "No, I get it! I mean—yes! I mean... I'd love to. I just didn't think you'd—"
They both stopped, eyes wide, words tangled in their throats.
Then—
"Are you two okay?" Eri asked, standing in the hallway with her backpack on, tilting her head. "Your faces are all red."
Izuku and Ochaco jumped a little, turning toward her like they'd been caught doing something scandalous.
"W-we're fine!" they said in unison, which made Eri blink and tilt her head.
Ochaco cleared her throat, straightening her shirt. "We're just... excited for the mission."
"Y-yeah," Izuku added, still flustered. "Very... mission-y."
"Okay," Eri said with a smile as she walked past them toward the door. She whispered to Melody, "I think they like each other."
Melody blinked once, then nodded in agreement before entering her morpher to hide while Izuku and Ochaco walked behind her, their faces now completely red.
After they walked Eri to school and reached the gates, Izuku knelt beside her.
"Eri, I won't be able to help with training for a few days. Something's come up."
