Flashback to Events after chapter 10

In taehyung's pov :

--

Seven nights after Jungkook’s rejection, Taehyung returned to Crystal Citadel hollow-eyed and blood-drunk. The palace staff barely recognized the prince they once adored; the smile was gone, replaced by a constant ember-red glow in his irises.

He postponed the wedding, prowled the countryside, and—when Mishil dragged him home—locked himself in the western tower. But while the court quaked at his silence, Taehyung’s mind screamed only one word: Jungkook.

The bond hadn’t severed cleanly; it pulsed, raw and bleeding, somewhere behind his rib cage. He could still smell lavender on cold nights, could still taste the salt of Jungkook’s tears. Sleeping became torture, so he stopped sleeping.

Each time his eyes drifted shut, the memory returned—Jungkook’s scent fading like smoke, the sound of his voice breaking, the final snap of their bond ringing in his ears like a death knell.

It hadn’t been love. Not yet. There hadn’t been time. But it had been something. Something real. And now, it was gone.

He stared at the ceiling of his tower chamber in the Crystal Citadel, the same place he used to find peace. Now it felt like a prison.

There were no knocks on his door, no letters on his desk. Just silence.

---

He had tried everything.

After returning to the palace with his mother, Taehyung had locked himself in his study and written the first letter. It was short. Careful. Almost formal.

> “Jungkook,
I know you’re angry. I don’t blame you. But please, let me explain. Let me tell you everything I couldn’t before.
—T”

He sent it with one of the palace's messenger ravens. He waited. Days passed. No reply.

The second letter was longer. Less formal. He’d poured emotion into that one.

> “I think about that night constantly. Not just the mistake… but the way you smiled when you held my hand. I never meant to lie. I never wanted you to feel used.
Please—just let me see you. Once.
—Taehyung”

Still, nothing came back. Not even a torn scrap.

By the time he sent the third letter, his words had grown raw and desperate.

> “Jungkook, I’m sorry. For everything. For Sooyun. For not telling you about her.
I was going to end it. I swear.
But you walked away before I could explain.
Please… don’t leave me like this.”
