The doctor was dying. He lay there, broken and beaten. Yet again, he sacrificed himself for the Earth. But that was his last regeneration. A human who knew The Doctor well at the time, approached him and said, "I want you to think of something happy. Can you do that?" The Doctor smiled. "There was," he started, periodically gasping in pain, he resumed, "This girl...I loved her so much, I'd do anything to make her happy. And I did. But she loved me as well, yet some things won't work out... I- her name was Rose Tyler. She would never give up, even when I did." Another gasp in pain. "I will- I'll be with her now. As it should have been. Funny, when she was here, I never told her that I-" The Doctor gasped and turned lifeless as golden steam went off his body. "You what? Doctor?!" The companion stilled as the Doctor died. That night, all through earth, not a sound could be heard.
