A bright amber glow and heat blasted Y/n in the face. He looked up at the chaos, his eyes burning and watering. His feathers were gone, and his skin was crawling. He reached his tiny hands out towards the window, hearing someone call his name.

He jolted awake at the sound of the school bell, looking down at his hands.

"That's it for class today. You all need to be prepared for your final exams. There are two portions, the physical and practical. And turn in your permission slips for the upcoming training camp."

"I barely took any notes this year!"

"And with the sports festival, I barely had time to study!"

Y/n stood up and grabbed his stuff, then left. He decided to head to the library to get some extra studying just in case.

A few weeks went by, and he was suddenly on the bus to the training camp with nearly perfect marks on his exams.

He was zoned out as the students around him talked.

When the bus stopped, everyone climbed out. They were standing on a cliff, all confused.

"Is this a stretch break?"

"Where's the training camp?"

Denki and Mineta charged off the bus in a panic, shouting about how they had to pee. Once they saw where they were, they started running back to the bus. The door shut before they made it.

Four pro heroes appeared, all themed around cats. Leo's wings flared up defensively.

"You okay, N/n?"

"Cats and I don't mix."

"Why not?"

"I'm kind of like a bird. They chase me."

"Oh, that makes sense."

"Quiet, kitties~! It's time for your first test!"

Denki wailed loudly and put his hands on his head.

"TEST?! WE JUST STARTED SUMMER BREAK!"

"Don't worry! You just have to make it to the camp before lunchtime! It's in the center of the forest. Just be careful not to bother the others in there!"

"The what?"

Before he got an answer, Y/n was tumbling down the side of the cliff. He tucked into a ball and wrapped his wings around himself to protect his body. He finally stopped with a grunt and shook the dirt from his hair before standing up.

"Damn..."

He was knocked over by Eijiro a few seconds later. He glared at shoto, who was effortlessly sliding down the cliffside with his quirk.

"Showoff."

He stood up.

"Okay, what was all that about..."

Y/n trailed off, feeling a chilling presence behind him. His feathers bristled, and he jumped behind Eijiro as the class was faced with a strange creature. It was looking directly at them.

No one moved, until Mineta came tumbling down the side of the mountain while screaming. He crashed into Y/n's legs, and the creature growled.

Everyone scattered and ran as it stomped on the ground where they had been. Y/n lifted off and flew circles around it's head, causing a distraction for the others to escape. Once he did, he lost it and caught up.

He startled Shoto when he crashed through the trees, and stood up.

"Where's everyone else?"

"We got separated."

"Ah, that makes sense."

The two walked in silence for a bit, before shoto spoke.

"Why don't you just fly ahead? You could be there in minutes?"

"Oh, I just don't want to be the only one there for hours, because I know no one's making it there by lunch."

"Willingly missing lunch out of anxiety?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

Eijiro stopped and grabbed his arm, pulling him against a tree as something huge stomped by.

Y/n felt his hand over his mouth, and around his waist. His wings fluttered slightly, and as soon it was safe, he pushed off of him.

"Sorry, I- sorry..."

He shook the thought from his head like an etch-a-sketch, and sighed.

He knew it was wrong.

He knew.
