The invigorating scent of coffee wafted gently past Edgar's nose as he sat across from his best friend Sherman at an open air coffee shop. "Ugh," Edgar groaned. He leaned back in his chair, slid halfway out of it, and then slouched forward to put his head on the table.
"What's the matter Edgar?" asked Sherman.
"I'm sooooooo tiiiereeedd," Edgar whined.
"Well maybe if you didn't stay up until 2 watching Netflix you wouldn't be this tired," Sherman pointed out.
"Don't tell me what to do! It's a free country!! I am my own master, free to do as I wish!!!" Edgar sat up and waved his arms in the air to emphasize his point.
"Okay okay whatever Edgar," Sherman said quickly, "Just be a bit quieter about it. People are staring."
"Fine." Edgar slid back down in his seat and stretched slightly, yawning. Sherman rolled his eyes at his friend and glanced around the coffee shop, looking for something to distract Edgar.
"Look, hot guys!!" Sherman exclaimed excitedly. Edgar's head shot up.
"What! Where?" Edgar's eyes roved frantically around the coffee shop and the nearby street.
"Nowhere you idiot! I only said that to get your attention," said Sherman.
Edgar sighed dramatically and put his head back on the table. "I hate you."
"I know you do," Sherman smirked. Suddenly Edgar's head shot up.
"Maybe you weren't lying after all..." Edgar said his voice trailing off as he stared across the street at a cluster of boys all talking together.
"Ooooooohhh," said Sherman, peering in the same direction as Edgar. "Which one do you like?"
"Do you see the really short one in the back?"
"The one with black hair?"
"No! That one's not short at all! The really really short one with brown hair at the very back."
"Ohhh, now I see him," Sherman said. "I thought you didn't like short guys." Sherman turned to talk to Edgar, and found himself talking to an empty chair. "Edgar?!" Sherman looked back across the street and saw Edgar walking up to the group of boys.
"Oh crap."
