Edgar and Todo!

Before

"What on earth are you doing?" Sherman asked, walking into his kitchen and being greeted with a lovely view of Edgar's rear.
"Looking for ice cream," Edgar responded nonchalantly.
"Why," Sherman queried, leaning back against the counter.
"Do you really only have vanilla?" Edgar asked, dodging the question. "You are so basic Sherman."
"Edgar," Sherman said, "stop sidestepping the question. Also, I am not basic! Vanilla is a perfectly good flavor!"
"Sure it is," Edgar mumbled, "if you're three." He stood up, a carton of ice cream in his hand, and stepped across the kitchen to the silverware drawer to dig out a spoon. "Please tell me you at least have some magic shell or something."
"Cabinet beside the stove," Sherman said. "And I believe I asked you a question."
Edgar carried on humming and dug in the cabinets some more, finally surfacing with a bottle of chocolate syrup.
"Edgaaaaarr!!" Sherman whined. "You can't just stroll into my house, steal my ice cream, and not even tell me why you're upset."
"Who says I'm upset?"
"I've made at least four theatre references since you've gotten here and you haven't acknowledged one!"
"Since when have I been observant?"
"Listen Edgar, if you don't want to tell me, that's fine. It's just, I'm your best friend. It's my job to pester you when you're upset and find out why."
Edgar sighed, and dumped more chocolate on top of his already swimming ice cream.
"Honestly," he admitted, "I'm just being overly dramatic as usual." Edgar picked up the carton of ice cream and strode into the living room.
"Wait! Edgar," Sherman called after his friend. "Are you really going to eat that entire carton? And what are you being overly dramatic about? Apart from your usual exuberant personality, of course."
"Well," Edgar said, flopping down on the couch, "It's just... I mean..."
"My goodness Edgar, spit it out!"
"Ugh fine... It's Todo." Sherman looked at Edgar and raised an eyebrow. "He's just so..."
"Short?" Sherman suggested.
"Well yes, " Edgar admitted, "but that's not what I was going to say. He's-"
"Hopelessly obsessed with video games?"
"Willyoustopinteruptingmewheni'mtryingtotalkyoucompletepineapple!"
"Pineapple?"
Edgar raised a eyebrow, then carried on.
"He's just so fucking adorable," Edgar said, filling his mouth with ice cream. "And he doesn't even know! He's such a great person and he goes through so much shit every day and it's awful!" Sherman nodded sympathetically, whilst mentally banging his head against the coffee table. Edgar was a great friend and all, but ever since he met Todo, he had completely lost his mind. Usually Edgar got over his crushes in a few days, but he had been moping about Todo for at least a month now.
"I don't understand why his girlfriend is so terrible to him," Edgar continued, waving his spoon for emphasis. "I mean, doesn't she realize what she's got? Todo," Edgar groused, sinking lower into the couch and taking another bite of ice cream, "that's what she's got."
"Hey, look on the bright side. If his girlfriend's really that awful, then they've got to break up sometime, right?" Sherman patted his friend's shoulder reassuringly. "And once they do, you can swoop in and get your man."
Edgar narrowed his eyes at Sherman, but then nodded thoughtfully. "Yes... You're right. All I have to do is sabotage their relationship!" Edgar announced triumphantly, standing up.
"Um, that's not exactly what I meant," Sherman pointed out. "Perhaps you should wait for them to fall apart on their own."
Edgar sighed and flopped back down onto the couch. "Yeah, you're right." He admitted. "I just wish..." Edgar's voice trailed off and he stared into space with a dreamy expression. Sherman rolled his eyes and went into the kitchen to get himself a spoon. He retuned to find Edgar in the same position.
"You are in much too deep my friend," He laughed as he patted Edgar on the back and helped himself to the ice cream.
"Way too deep," Edgar agreed.
