I thought, what if Edgar and Todo were in high school, and Edgar had a huge crush on Todo, but Todo didn't know. Then, I wrote a poem. (Lowercase is intentional. Not rhyming is intentional.)
there is a boy
in the front row
of math
his eyes are chocolate
his hair is mahogany
his brow furrows
but then he smiles
she sits beside him
and smiles too
they laugh together
and i watch
and wish it was me
the boy sits in art
behind the window
angles just so
the sun filters through
his eyelashes
he is glowing
i am falling
his hand glides
across paper
drawing a portrait
of the model
we must copy
but i have glanced
too often
and my portrait
is of him
there is a boy

he is beautiful
