How Cute

Ok last one before a real chapter! Heres a cute little chapter of Gale and Sophia- hopefully it can add some insight into their relationship! And of course, hope you enjoy, love ya!

It was early in the morning, Gale had woken up before everyone else. She took a seat at the campfire, whittling a stick with her knife as she waited.

She whipped her head around at the sound of a twig breaking behind her.

There stood a young girl.

Gale recognized her.

She was blonde, freckled- the daughter of that asshole and the woman that rarely spoke.

Gale looked her up and down before looking back down to her project.

She heard the leaves crunch as the little girl walked, seeing her out of the corner of her eye until she came fully into view.

She sat on a crate across from Gale, sitting on top of her hands.

Gale peeked up, seeing her looking right at her. Her small eyes grew when she realized shed been caught, quickly looking down to the dirt.

Gale sighed, setting down her stick in the seat beside her, holstering her knife before crossing her arms.

She looked up to the young girl, studying her for a moment.

"Whats your name?" Gale asked after a pause, genuinely curious, which was rare for her.

"Um..S-Sophia..You're Gale." The young girl responded, she was so quiet and timid Gale barely heard her.

"I am, ya. Uh, did you..need something?" She asked, scratching her head in confusion as she observed the girl in front of her.

"No..i-i just woke up before mama and daddy and didn't wanna sit there and wait. Also..um..i have something for you.." Sophia said, looking everywhere but at Gale as her cheeks flushed.

"For me? What is it?"  Sophia chewed her nail for a moment, apprehensive to show Gale what she had made.

But eventually, she stood from her seat and reached into her back pocket.

She pulled out a folded piece of paper, holding it delicately in her hands.

She took small steps towards Gale, peeking up at her through her eyelashes. She stopped around three feet in front of her, holding the paper out.

Gale had to stand slightly to reach it, softly taking it from her tiny fingers. After Gale took it, sitting back again, Sophia still stood there, playing with her fingers as she watched her unfold it.

The front was a math assignment, filled with fractions and decimals that made Gales head hurt. She didnt understand how it all made sense to Paige.

But when she flipped it, the back was not more math, but in fact..a drawing.

There were two stick figures, one much shorter than the other.

The shorter one had yellow hair, and the taller had brown.

The taller was also sporting a big brown rectangle she assumed was a jacket.

And written underneath them were two names, Sophia under the shorter.

And..Gale..under the taller.

"Is that us?" Gale asked, examining the drawing, not able to hold back the smile creeping onto her face.

"Mhm!" Sophia said, a smile growing on her face as well, calmed by Gales happy reaction.

"What are the M's in the sky? Mcdonald's buildings in the distance?" Gale joked, Sophia giggled before saying, "No! They're birds! Cardinals- thats why they're red, i heard you say you love them."
