Paige was empty.

A dry shell, cracked and broken. She had shed every last tear in her, sobbed until her throat bled.

Now she sat in silence, unmoving, staring out of the truck window as they sped down the highway.

She was wrapped in Loris arms, T-dog beside them driving. As far as she knew, they were all she had left.

The rest were all gone, Gale..Gale was gone.

Her knees stung, scratched and bloody from falling to them when she heard the news. Shanes words still echoed in her head, playing over and over on a loop.

"Shes dead."  "Shes dead." "Shes dead."

She couldn't believe it. The only thing keeping her sane in that moment being Shanes track record in the pathological lying department.

She held onto that hope of him continuing his record so tight, she was afraid she'd break his streak with her grasp.

She had prayed more in that truck than she had in her whole life time. She hoped God would get tired of her begging and just give her what she wanted, sick of her pleas.

All she wanted was for Gale to be alive. Not there, not happy and healthy, but just alive. Paige knew she would be alright, that she would find them. Because all Gale ever needed was to still be alive, and if she was- then she was perfectly fine. So that was all Paige needed too.

"Hey, we gotta turn around." Paige heard Lori say above her, T-dog replied after a beat- "Straight back to that herd? Um..no." Paige wanted to laugh at his remark, really wanted to, but she just couldn't.

"The highways back there. Thats where they'll be. Rick will go back to where we first broke down and Glenn too-" "Were headed east. Get to the coast, we should've done that from the jump. Look, we've got a shot to get out of here in one piece" "I gotta find Carl, he may have escaped with somebody." "I hate to say it, but they're on their own. Theres no way to even begin to start looking." "You're wrong."

Paige half listened to the two argue back and forth, sitting up in her seat, Loris arm stayed glued around her shoulder as she did.

"Look, we cant go back. Im sorry, Its suicide." "Alright, then let me out." Loris next actions got a reaction from Paige, both her and T-dog gasping as Lori opened the door of the very much moving vehicle.

T-dog slammed on the break, Paige had to catch herself on the dash to avoid hitting her head, hissing as the leather pressed into her grass cut palms.

"You turn around, or you let us out right now." Lori spat, her eyes as wide open as the truck door. "I SHOULD DO IT YOU KNOW, KAY?" T-dog yelled, before throwing his head back, out of breath from adrenaline.

"T-dog." Lori pleaded with the man, pulling Paige closer.

"You're out of your damn minds." The man stated after a pause, but nonetheless, shifted into gear and turned the truck around.

Silence. The only noise was dragging feet and the occasional snarl.

Gale had broken off from the herd, finding herself on the highway.

Two walkers had followed, eventually surrounding her. One was in front, the other trailing, the three doing some weird conga line.

Gale felt like an opossum, playing dead. But it was quite easy, the dead were slow, and slow was all she could do right now.
