"I don't want to be rude, but I want you to tell me how you're a mermaid and a vampire at the same time. I was born a mermaid, and you know that, but how did you become one?" Libby demanded as we held onto the shark's back. I haven't told anyone this stuff before, and I don't really want to.
"Well, I turned on a full moon when I was 9 or something. I forget exactly when. My parents never knew. I first turned into a mermaid alone in the bathroom while my new parents were out. Luckily, they left just when I washed my hands. My biological parents probably wanted a perfect boy, not the weird girl that I am. So they put me in the orphanage at 3 years old." I ducked before I skinned the top of my head on coral.
"I never knew you were adopted, I'm sorry," Libby said softly. "You don't have to tell me how you became a vampire if it's . . . too much."
"It's fine. Turning into a vampire was weird. Pretty much what happened is one night I went for a walk and a vampire pulled me into the woods and bit me, then it forced me to drink some of its blood. That's all. I don't even drink that much blood; I drink water with one or two drops of blood in it. Besides, most of the time it's animal blood." I feel like I just said everything about my childhood. I guess it wasn't very interesting. So I changed this a bit because I just didn't like how the chapter sounded. But yeah.
