Stepping inside the platform 9 3/4 was like entering a whole new world. It was even more different from Diagon Alley.Wizards and witches here and there, kids running up to their friends, cats and toads jumping up and down, owls hooting and rattling their cages to leave to freedom. The laughter was contagious, it would bring a smile to anyone.
I was admiring the train. I had never traveled in train before much less a magical one so I was amazed.
"Close your mouth, Katie" James teased, but glancing at him I could see he was as amazed I was. "There are flies"
I breathed a chuckle, turning to him. "Let them come. I'll welcome them gladly"
James laughed.
Mr. Potter glanced down at me, smiling. "Welcome to platform 9 3/4, Kate"
A whistle coming from the train made us look toward a man calling out we had 10 minutes to aboard.
Mia immediately latched onto her son and hugged him tightly which made his face flush in embarrassment. I smiled slightly. Mr Potter ruffled my hair, careful with my headband. I smiled up at him as he went to hug James as Mia came to me and hugged me.
I felt my hair changing colors. Now that we were in the platform I could release the control I was fighting for in the station, allowing it to change.
"Look after each other" Mia boped my nose making me giggle, nodding. "If you want us to, we can look after your parents and brother"
"That'd be great, Mrs. Potter" I told her, smiling gratefully "They would like that. Mum would be more reassured having someone to talk to"
Mia nodded, smiling.
Mr. Potter placed a hand on her shoulder, looking down at us "Write us when you get sorted. We would love to know which house you end up. You too, Kate"
James puffed his chest, passing an arm around my shoulders. "There's no doubt we will make Gryffindor, dad. I know so"
I had learned a little bit about each house thanks to my dad and his newly obsession with Hogwarts: A history. Had it not been for him and spitting facts left and right I wouldn't know what James was talking about.
"I don't know, I like hufflepuff" I said to James innocently.
James gasped in mock hurt, placing his free hand on his heart. "Kill me now. The deception"
"There's nothing wrong about Hufflepuff" Mia looked at him disapprovingly. "One of my best friends was in hufflepuff"
"I know" James dropped his act. "I was just kidding"
"We know" Mr Potter said amused. "Now up you go before the train leaves without you two"
"It wouldn't dare" I pointed out.
"It'd be so rude of his part" James finished. .
"Well, we don't want to test that, specially your first year so go" Mia told us.
We laughed, waving a hand in goodbye, turning toward the train.
James' arm was still hooked around my shoulder and I focused my hair to look as messy as James', mimicking the exact shade of his eyes so we would look like twins. Oh, I had to get rounded glasses for the look. Maybe later.
