I should have known that dad would be the one to ambush my books as soon as I got them home.

He almost bit my arm when I tried to grab Hogwarts: A history. It wasn't in the list of books but I saw it and wanted to know more about the school, only to prove Mike wrong that I knew about the school. But, the moment I saw it was a thick book, I was regretting it, which it was when dad took the opportunity and snatched it from my hand.

...

Guess to who was all Mike's annoyance directed to now?

Dad.

He wouldn't stop stating facts about Hogwarts, specially to me.

'Honey, look. Hogwarts its in the mountains and has moving staircases. 142 to be exact'

'Yay, stairs' note my sarcasm.

'Kat. Did you know Hogwarts it's home to about  twenty ghosts? There's a poltergeist in there too'

Dad practically taught me most facts that I wouldn't have known otherwise and he seemed to be more excited than me for reading. He took an interest on the book needed for my history of magic class. Dad wasn't an historian by any chance but he somehow loved the history of the Wizarding world. It was sweet. He was learning all he could about my new world.

The days leading up to September the first were bittersweet. This would be the first time in ages I'd live somewhere else that wasn't my house and be away from my family.

I took the rest of August to spend all I could with my family. I even dared to be kinder to my brother and lowered the pranks which was a surprise for him when I'd sit with him and we'd watch movies. As we didn't have the same taste, we had an arrangement. We'd play paper-scissors-rock and the winner would put a movie of their choice. Then it'd be alternate. The next would be the others choice and so on.

With mum, I spent time with her in her favorite hobby that I dreaded most of the time: Shopping. I liked it at some point, going to buy what I needed and that's it. But mum loved to browse through every boutique until she found something she liked and she could take hours seeing everything. I found that boring and tiring but I managed. I wouldn't ve seeing mum for months so I endured an entire month of going shopping with her. Sure, we didn't buy a lot of stuff but spending time with my mum was what counted.

Finally, with dad I didn't really spent that much time with him because of his job but when he was home, he'd be on his studio relaxing. I'd sit with him, reading my school books. I normally didn't like to read, I did what was necessary but sometimes I found myself distracted and dad knew this but he liked I was making an effort with him. He'd read his own books and sometimes he'd sit next to me to read my books.

And so August flew by and when I less expected, it was time to go to hogwarts.
