Hello everyone. Finally, back with this one. Sorry for late updates. Just wasn't finding any motivation to update this story. #iykyk Well, happy reading 😊📖.

The warm golden sunlight filtered through the thin curtains as birds chirped outside, waking the sleepy village gently. But the bed in Karan and Tejasswi's room felt unusually cold.

Karan turned with a lazy groan, reaching out to the side of the bed out of habit-only to find it empty. His eyes snapped open. He sat up, rubbing his eyes, his brows immediately furrowing.

"Teju?" he called softly, looking around the room.

There was no sign of her. He got off the bed, stretching his arms before dragging himself to the washroom. After a quick freshen-up, he stepped out and walked toward the main hall where he found Akshara, Naitik, Pragya, Abhi, and Namish's parents sitting together, sipping on chai and munching on local rusks.

He scanned the room quickly, and not finding Tejasswi, his gaze landed on Pragya.

"Maa... where's Teju?" he asked.

Pragya looked up, smiling. "She left early in the morning, beta. Namish came up with the idea of going to the riverside. They both went to the river-it's like their childhood ritual every time she visits. The others went along too."

Karan blinked. "The others?"

"Ranbir, Aditi, Prachi, Aneri, Harsh... even Namish's sisters Rhea and Jeevika. Only you and Vikram are left behind," Pragya added casually.

Just then, Vikram walked in, yawning like a bear. "What's with the noise? Did the world end or something?"

Karan gave him a sharp glare. "Teju went to the river with everyone."

Vikram blinked, still half-asleep. "Okay... and?"

"She didn't wake me up," Karan muttered, clearly miffed.

Akshara chuckled. "She came to wake you up, beta. But you were snoring away so peacefully that she didn't have the heart to disturb you."

Karan groaned, running his hand through his hair. "Urghh. I want to go there."

Namish's mother smiled warmly. "Pappu will take you, beta. The river isn't far."

Before Karan could say anything, he grabbed Vikram's wrist. "You're coming too."

Vikram protested instantly, "Arrey bhai, mujhe nahi jaana hai! I'm not a morning river person!"

"You're coming with me. That's final," Karan said sternly, dragging him out while Vikram mumbled dramatically about ruined sleep.

A few minutes later, their jeep came to a halt near the riverside. The sound of laughter and water splashing echoed through the trees. Karan stepped out and walked toward the edge-and what he saw made him stop in his tracks.

The scene before him was lively. The river sparkled under the sun as the younger bunch played and splashed each other in waist-deep water. Ranbir and Harsh were having a water fight while Prachi, Aneri and Aditi giggled watching them. Rhea and Jeevika stood on the rocks, dipping their feet and clicking selfies.

And there, right in the middle of it all, was Tejasswi-completely soaked, her hair wet and sticking to her cheeks, laughing freely as she splashed water at Namish, who was equally soaked and grinning as he blocked the splash.

They looked too comfortable. Too close.

Karan's jaw clenched, and his eyes narrowed. He was already halfway into the river before Vikram could say, "Bhai, relax. They're childhood friends!"
