Lucas' POV
My princess. My Riles. She's missing. And we can't do anything about it.
I sit down on the edge of the building, looking down, only to find someone in a hammock. I look back up, and bury my face in my hands. Maya sits next to me.
"Lucas, we are going to find her. And she's going to be okay, okay?" she says.
I can only nod, because if I talk, I'll burst into tears. Which I've already done five times.
"Lucas. You know that it's okay to cry. I've held back so many tears, but that only hurt me more, Lucas. You can cry. No one is going to hurt you." she says, crying herself. And I decide to cry again. I bury my face in my hands once more, and let it all out.
My princess. My Riles. My Riley. She's gone, and we don't know where she is.
Maybe she went to the store. I look down at the floor, and my heart drops.
I nudge Maya with my elbow. "Maya. Maya!" she turns to me, and I nod my head in the direction of the ground. She grows pale.
On the ground, is a splatter of blood, and next to it is a piece of dark brown curly hair. My princess. My Riles. My Riley...
"...Peaches?" Maya can barely be heard.
"Riley?" Farkle looks down and gasps.
I kneel next to the puddle of blood, and pick the hair up. It's definitely Riley's.
"My princess..."
Riley's POV
I can hear Lucas and Maya talking about something, I just can't make it out. Then I hear Maya cry. Then Lucas. They think I'm dead. I need to get them.
I try to sit up, but realize that I'm probably the weakest I've ever been. Crap. And I can't talk loudly.
But, I still try. "Maya! Lucas!" But all that comes out is a whisper. I cry. I don't know what else to do.
After laying there for about half and hour, I decide to finally get up and climb, no matter how much it hurt. I sit up, and cringe as pain shoots down my back. Tears fall, but I am determined to finish this. I cringe some more, and get out of the hammock, onto the fire escape. Landing was terrible. My legs are so weak I can barely hold myself up, so I end up falling.
I slowly get back up, and start to climb the ladder. Only two more after this. Just breathe, Riles. I slowly make my way up, hurting with every step. I finally make it up the second ladder, and fall back down on the fire escape again. I get back up, realizing that this was going to be a routine.
I did the same thing for the third ladder; climb up slowly, with pain, and fall down when I reach the balcony.
This is it, the final ladder. All I have to do is climb up these steps, and I'm okay.
I slowly make my way to the fire escape, slipping multiple times on the way, but I still made it to the fire escape, and from there, I could see the top; Farkle is pacing while biting his nails, Maya is sitting with her head in her knees on the corner, and Lucas has his head buried in his hands. They're all crying. They really care. I softly smile, but the pain makes it fade soon enough. I step onto the building, wobbly, but I catch myself. I just stand there, staring at them to see if they notice. They don't move.
"Guys?" I try to say something, but only a squeak comes out.
"Guys?"
"Guys?!"
"GUYS?!" Still only squeaks come out.
I take a deep breath. "Guys!" this time, a word comes out, and you can hear it, but my throat hurts so much now. I touch it, then turn back towards them, who are looking at me with their eyes wide.
