" I'm sorry, you want to do what?" Tony questioned, looking at Ana like she had gone crazy.

" I want to get away from here," She explained," I need a place where I don't have to worry about being a hero or looking over my shoulder all the time. I don't want to worry every single day of my life, Tony."

His eyes softened, sighing in understanding. He ran a hand through his hair, gathering his thoughts.

" Listen, as much as I would love to do that for you, I can't. You are being hunted by an organization who wants to use you. Leaving the compound would only make it easier for them to get you. I just don't think it's a good idea."

" I am going to do something with or without your help. I will let you keep tabs on where I am, I will keep in touch, and I will come back when you need me. I just need some time."

" Fine, I will look into finding someplace, but the second it seems like you might be targeted you are coming back."

" Thank you, Tony."

Ana pulled the man into a hug before running out of the room.

Ana knocked on Pietro's door, feeling nervous. It had been a few days since they had spoken, the longest they had gone since Ultron.

He quickly opened the door, staring into her eyes. He opened the door wider, silently inviting her in.

The moment the door shut she didn't hesitate to speak.

" Look I know I've messed up, a lot actually, but I want to work things out,"

" How do you plan to do that, Ana?" Pietro questioned, his tone tired," I want that to, but if you won't open up to me then nothing will be solved. I can't keep being blind sided by things I should've known about."

" I know, and I'm sorry about that. I made a deal with Tony. He's going to help me set up a place where I can get away from all this heroes and villains bullshit. I want you to come with me. I want to start moving forward."

Pietro looked shocked, his eyes wide. It took him a second to reply.

" You want to run away? What about Wanda? Or the team?"

" I'm not running away. I promised Tony I would stay in contact and come back if he needs me. I don't want to quit being an Avenger, I just need some time to be a normal person. I'd really like it if you came with me,"

Pietro pulled the girl closer, connecting his lips with hers. She leaned into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck. When he pulled away he cupped her jaw, smiling brightly.

" I'll go anywhere you want me to."

Elianna's POV-

It hadn't even been a month since Ana had left and things were going to shit. Of course, that meant she had to try to pick up the pieces in her place.

Sitting in the conference room surrounded by almost every Avenger was not on her list of things to do. Of course, it couldn't end well considering recent events.

The door opened, turning everyone's attention away from their own conversations. In walked the Secretary of State, Thaddeus Ross

" Five years ago, I had a heart attack. I dropped right in the middle of my back-swing. Turned out it was the best round of my life, because after 13 hours of surgery and a triple bypass . . . I found something 40 years in the Army had never taught me: Perspective. The world owes the Avengers an unpayable debt. You have fought for us, protected us, risked your lives . . . but while a great many people see you as heroes, there are some . . . who would prefer the word 'vigilantes'," he spoke, posing himself at the end of the table.

" And what would you use, Mr. Secretary?" Natasha questioned, her tone unwavering.

" How about 'dangerous'? What would you call a group of US-based, enhanced individuals who routinely ignore sovereign borders and inflict their will wherever they choose and who frankly, seem unconcerned about what they leave behind?"

A screen rolled down behind the man, as the whirring of a projector started. Soon enough images appeared on the screen.

" New York."

It was hard to keep up with what was happening, but it was unmistakably the mayhem Loki had brought to earth four years earlier.

Aliens patrolled the streets, soldiers fired guns in the streets, and the Hulk was shown smashing a building, the camera feed cutting off from the debris.

He continued showing the important events the Avengers participated in, not caring that it was touching many nerves among the group.

It wasn't until Lagos that someone finally snapped.

" Okay, that's enough," Steve spoke, containing his anger.

Wanda was facing the ground, her face a mix of grief and guilt. Natasha looked composed, but even that couldn't disguise her anger. The tension in the room was thick enough to cut through.

" For the past four years, you've operated with unlimited power and no supervision. That's an arrangement the governments of the world can no longer tolerate. But I think we have a solution," Ross announced, setting a thick document in front of Wanda.

It was passed around, the group briefly reading through it.

" The Sokovia Accords. Approved by 117 countries . . . it states that the Avengers shall no longer be a private organization. Instead, they'll operate under the supervision of a United Nations panel, only when and if that panel deems it necessary,"

" The Avengers were formed to make the world a better place. I feel we've done that," Steve replied, his brows furrowed.

" Tell me Captain, do you know where Thor and Banner are right now?"

No one had an answer to that. Thor had left shortly after Ultron and Banner hadn't been seen since he had left to go on his own mission.

" If I misplaced a couple of 30 megaton nukes . . . you can bet there'd be consequences. Compromise. Reassurance. That's how the world works. Believe me, this is the middle ground,"

" So, there are contingencies." Rhodey said.

" Three days from now, the UN meets in Vienna to ratify the accords."

Everyone looked over at each other, no one speaking their opinion out loud. It was hard to tell what was going to happen to the group.

" There is one more thing I came here to say, within this time you are expected to hand Anastasia Romanova over to the state to face her crimes,"

El stood up, her chair sliding across the floor. She had listened to this man long enough.

" That is bullshit! Everything that Ana has done has been out of her control. You want to lock her up for crimes she doesn't even remember committing?" she spat, glaring at the man.

" Elianna Peters, right? You are the traitor who helped Hydra," Ross replied, not bothered by her outburst.

" Don't forget it was your government that put me there! If it wasn't for Fury's orders I never would've willingly joined."

" And yet, here you are defending a criminal. Be careful, you could be next on our list."

" Sir, with all due respect, what if we don't come to a conclusion you like?" Natasha questioned, her teeth clenched.

" Then the Avengers retire and my squad will personally come for Miss Romanova. You have three days to think it over."

The man exited then, leaving the group to their thoughts.

God, it had all turned into a shitshow.
