Entr'acte
The Two of Wands sits sniveling beside the Huntress. He has not stopped whining since they had lost the trail of his wife and step-daughter, alternating between blaming the Huntress for not killing them when she had the chance and bemoaning his decision to betray them in the first place.
"This is all your fault!" he declares, eyes swollen from many consecutive sleepless nights. "Why the Ace put you in charge of this is beyond me!"
The Huntress' grip on the steering wheel tightens, her knuckles turning white. She feels the tick of the vein in her forehead begin, knowing she is moments away from snapping.
"If you had actually done your part," she growls, "we never would have been in this situation in the first place."
The Two begins to whine again, and the Huntress attempts to tune him out. Her fingers tap against the steering wheel. She needs to report the situation back to her Ace. She has been unable to report in for a handful of days, and the ruler of the Arcane World will be desperate for information on the hunt for the Major Arcana.
With a sigh, the Huntress pulls out her map. It is a clever thing, the map, enchanted to shift to show a map of the current World the owner was in, and able to show the distribution of magic throughout the World. Arcana have the largest magical signature of any creature the Huntress has ever come across. But according to the map, there is no evidence of any Arcana left in the Human World, with the exception of herself and the Two.
No. That is a lie. A spark suddenly glints to life on the map, fading just as quickly as it had shown up.
She examines the place the spark had been, only to find the area completely devoid of any magic at all. The Huntress frowns. There had been magic in the area moments before. She is sure of it. Unless it is somehow being shielded from her sight. The Huntress' frown deepens. There is powerful magic at work here.
There is no harm in going to check it out.
She begins to fold the map. "Shut your mouth," she snaps at the Two, glaring at him. The look immediately makes his mouth snap shut. "I think I have found them."
