Chapter 17

LUKE'S P.O.V

"Sorry.. Too far.." Michael murmured again.

"We should see where she goes." Calum suggested.

We nodded and walked out the door quickly.

She had a guitar.

She seemed to lead us out of the city and through a park that lead to a field, where she walked down to a river and climbed a tree.

She started playing, singing along to the chords.
We looked at eachother. She was incredible.

We stayed there quietly.
Until Michael stood on a twig.

Kate spun around and jumped down, making us scream. That tree was 12ft high..

She landed perfectly.
"DONT DO THAT!" Ashton hollowed

"Why did you follow me?"
"I don't know.. You looked upset." He shrugged.
"I'm fine."
"You're also an amazing singer.." I butted in.

She smiled slightly.
"Let's just go back."

We began walking back.

"Kate?"
She turned to Calum.
"Yeah?"
"Is it okay if Ash and I go down the street for a little? The manager said he's in town."

"Sure, I think I can trust you." She smiled.

I raised an eyebrow, what were they up to.

The rest of the day was quite ordinary. We sat watching movies all day, talking about random things.

Ashton had gone to shower, leaving Kate and I alone.

"Kate, what are you gonna do when we go?"
She shrugged.
"What I always do, keep going on cases."
"Have you ever been hurt before?.."
She nodded, rolling up her sleeve, showing a small bullet scar.
"That one stung a little." She laughed.

I ran my finger down her arm to it.
"Guess it's just apart of the family business huh.."
She smiled slightly.
"Yeah, I guess it is."
"Did you always want to be apart of this..? What you do now?"
She looked down.
"Not always. I had dreams.. Dreams like everyone else."
I listened closely.
"I wanted to go to the Olympics. I wanted to win there. I had the horse to do it too. I wanted my own stables, be my own boss.
That was the dream but.. I guess things got in the way." She looked at me,
"I guess it does for most people."

The boys bursted through the front door as Ashton walked
"Kate!!"

We looked up at them.
"Yeah..?"
Calum looked at Michael and grinned.
"We were wondering. Since you have taken such good care of us.. Would you like to be our personal body guard.. Permanently?"
