I peered at my side of the corner hallway.
Hmm, nothing out of the ordinary. So far he seems fine.
I saw Marvin turn his head, and I quickly hid behind the wall.
Phew, close one.
Marvin skipped class today, so this was the perfect chance I could snoop, and see if he's doing anything unusual.
I forced Porter to go to class today when I found out he was supposed to finish a magic test he skipped earlier. So now, it's just me stalking Marvin alone.
Great.
If Marvin really is the person with the spell, I don't see why he didn't cast me with it already. If he didn't use it on me before, I don't see why he would use it on me now.
Apart of me hoped Marvin doesn't have the spell, and he just coincidentally became popular and the center of attention. But, apart of me felt nervous that Porter was right.
I suddenly thought of Marvin and I sitting on the steps of the school, laughing and chatting away. A knot grew in my stomach, as I felt an indescribable feeling wash over me.
I really hope it isn't him.
I spotted Marvin sitting at a table in the casketeria. He rested his legs on top of the table, while leaning back on his chair and staring down at his phone.
The light from the Casketeria windows shone on his face, revealing his soft dimples and pearly white teeth as he laughed at something on his phone.
I couldn't see the screen of Marvin's phone, so I edged closer, and peered out from behind the wall.
Marvin unexpectedly turned his head to me and I sucked in my breath as our eyes met.
Oh no no, he found me.
The plan is ruined.
He's going to think I'm a total stalker.
Before I could shift my gaze somewhere else, I caught Marvin winking at me and flashing his signature smile.
My eyes widened and I quickly hid behind the safety of my wall. I could feel my heart racing fast as I tried to calm my breathing down.
I suck at this spying stuff.
I took another deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts on what I should do next.
I placed a hand on my chest, and slowly peeked from behind my wall again, to see if he was still there.
To my surprise, he wasn't there.
I came out from behind my wall, and started to look around.
That's strange. He was there just a second ago, where did he go-
I felt a tap on my shoulder, and jumped in surprise.
I turned around to see Marvin standing beside me with a smirk plastered on his face.
"Looking for someone?" Marvin asked, putting his hands in the pockets of his jeans.
"Oh uh no...I was just uh...hiding from the hall monitors. I don't want them to catch me haha." I lied straight through my teeth.
Marvin tilted his head to the side, letting his brown hair fall onto his eyes as he gave a small chuckle. "Well I didn't see any of them so you're clear to go."
I forced a smile, hoping he didn't catch my lie. "Uh...thanks." I awkwardly replied while fidgeting with my fingers.
There was a small period of silence that hung in the air before Marvin broke it.
