Chapter 1: Uncool
"Samuel!" I heard my mother call from downstair, "We don't have whole day you know!"
"Yeah! I'm coming!" I said as I hurriedly went downstairs to met her.
"You're gonna be late for school you now." She said as she was removing her coat.
She works as a nurse on the local hospital and to be honest she looked more like a sister to me than a mother. Her skin was still flawless, her hair was as shiny as that of a teenage girl and her smile would just captivate any men's heart. And I wonder why my father left her. Us to be exact.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry!" I said and kissed her cheeks. "Bye!" I said one last time and waved goodbye.
I entered Matt's car hurriedly and there he was, staring at me with a scowl on his face.
"What!?" I said innocently. He just shook his head lightly and then he went off.
It's a good thing that it's just a fifteen minute drive to our school. The bell blared loudly.
"You've been up all night haven't you?" Matt said as we strolled the semi-crowded hall.
"Whaaat!?" I said with the usual puppy dog face, "What makes you say that?"
"Well! We were almost late, again, and your eyes tells everything." He said and stopped by a locker, which obviously belonged to him, "What have you been up so lately?"
"Nothing, just homeworks, from my class." I innocently said, hoping that he would be buying it.
Then there goes the last bell. My life saver. I hate it when he interrogates me, it just gives me the willy billies.
"Okay bye!" I said hurriedly then slammed my locker and sprinted to my first class.
I flicked my pen for atleast ten times now. My first and second period was way better than the third. Algebra. One of the most boring class, well for me anyways. Just some little problems here and there, but nothing major really. I just hope that they just stick to one thing and get it over with?
After minutes of continuous solving, I finally finished the exam. And surely, I was the first person to finish, so to calm my nerves I shut my eyes to relax and waited for the bell to finally release us from this place.
"So how was it?" I asked Matt as he took a huge bite on his sandwhich.
"Not to good!" He announced, "That Dubbry needs to be in jail for mentally screwing us with those problem."
"You're completely overreacting." I scuffed. "The exam wasn't that hard you know." I proudly announced, "It's just because you didn't study that much."
"Whatever nerd!" He said a chomped the last bits of his sandwhich.
Then the cafeteria suddenly turned silent. I felt a cold shiver ran down my spine making me swallow a lump of my saliva. I could feel that someone was looking at me. As I scanned the cafeteria, I saw this frail little girl staring intently at me. The little girl was standing at the farthest corner of the cafeteria, but what I felt right now was that she was like 2 feet away from me. What's her problem with me?
"Hey!" Matt snapped his fingers in front of my face. All the noise of the place came back in an instant. "You spacing out on me again?"
"What!? I'm sorry!" I apologized, "Its just that I saw a little girl..." I never got the chance to finish my sentence since I noticed that the girl was already gone. Vanished into thin air. "Nevermind! What were you saying again?"
"You're weird you know that!" I heard Matt said and I could feel that he really was creeped out, "And you're really freaking me out." I'm freaked out myself.
"So..."
"Oh yeah about your mother." I heard him say, trying to create the rest of the sentence mentally, then continued. "You said that she would remarry right!?" I nodded.
"So have you seen your step dad?" He said trailing off with the last two words.
"To be completely honest with you." I said trying to make the atmosphere have that thrilling feel. "No! But I will soon. And honestly speaking, I'm not that excited myself."
"Oh who cares!" Matt said instinctively. I'm sure that he was hoping for me to have a step older sister, "Just introduce me to your sister okay!"
"Whatever douchebag! Get lost!"
And the bell rang wildly ending our free time.

All my class were finally over. I sat at the bench as I waited for Matt. What's taking him so long?
I fished for my phone and there I saw a message from Matt saying that he'll be out in a minute.
After minutes of waiting he finally appeared. "What took you so long?" I asked angrily.
"Just a bunch of things to do." He said while scratching the back of his neck. I can tell that he was lying.
"You were in detention, weren't you?" Obviously he was. "What did you do this time?"
"Nothing of what you think it is." He said with a smirk.
"You and your smart mouth." I murmurred loud enough for him to hear.
