There was so much tension within the group that one could cut with a knife. Their last mission didn't go so well. They managed to steal the supplies for a nearby church, but they were almost caught in the process. Why?
Lucy and Farlan.
Ever since their break-up, Lucy had been more distant toward the group -- minus Levi. Farlan would try to get close to her, hoping to win her back or at least get her to talk to him, but it only irritated Lucy more. Isabel tried to corner her to demand some kind of explanation because there was no way she would so willingly break up with Farlan when she knew how much she loved him. It got so horrible that Lucy almost fought Isabel until Levi held her back. Levi thought it would be best if Lucy did solo missions or if she were with him or Gojo, as much as Levi didn't want her alone with him.
I feel like this is somehow my fault, Gojo thought as the group reached the hideout.
This was their first mission as a group in weeks, and it went terribly.
Farlan let out an exhausting breath as he held open the door for the others. His eyes automatically went toward Lucy, hoping she would at least look at him, but she stared straight ahead toward her room. Her eyes were more sunk in than before, as if she got even less sleep than the three hours she's used to. Gojo watched her, a pain in his chest. A little sense of déjà vu.
Isabel looked at everyone while Levi went to sit down. Expression blank, but it wasn't hard to tell he was a bit peeved about the recent events.
"Man, I thought we wouldn't get out of there on time," Isabel tried to lighten up the mood.
Farlan crossed his arms and leaned against the door, letting out a scoff. "We would have if it wasn't for a certain blue-eyed idiot flirting with the guard," he said as he narrowed his eyes at Gojo.
"I was told to be the distraction," Gojo pointed out as he happily sat on the edge of the table. "She was charmed by me. So, I don't see the problem." He held a finger up. "But, a certain someone was supposed to give me the signal. Instead, he was busy sulking in the corner like a huge baby." Farlan clenched his jaw. "Anyone care to guess who it is?" Gojo eagerly held his hand up. "Wait, I know. I know!" He snapped his fingers and pointed at Farlan. "It was you."
"I wasn't sulking!" Farlan argued.
"Yes, you were."
"Enough!" Levi snapped at the two. "You two are giving me a headache. What's done is done."
"Yeah, can't we just take this as a win?" Isabel wondered. "That slimeball let us get away. It's a miracle he didn't catch us. Luck must have been on our side."
"It wasn't luck," they heard Lucy say as she emerged from the room. "I figured something like this would have happened." She looked at Levi. "I'll be back before morning."
Levi raised his brow. "And where exactly are you going?"
"Someone has to make sure they won't attack the church."
"Let me come with you," Farlan offered.
"Better I go alone. I don't need anyone holding me back, right now."
Farlan, with a broken heart, and the others watch Lucy leave. "Ouch," Gojo winced.
Levi looked at Farlan. "I thought you said this wouldn't affect the group."
"It's not," Farlan said.
"What happened today proves otherwise."
Gojo never tore his gaze away from the door. His mind reeling. It did seem odd to him that the old man just so willingly let them get away. And Lucy just-so-happened to figure out a way to stop him before leaving the hideout. The way she just dismissed Levi in a way of telling someone to get off their back.
