The front door to the hideout alerted Levi, Farlan, and Isabel. Levi was the first to stand, hiding his worry for his sister. Gojo and Lucy were gone for most of the night. Levi stayed up to make sure she returned home safely, unless he had to leave and search for her. He quickly looked at Lucy, finding no scratch or anything, then turned his attention to Gojo.
"Where were you two?" He demanded from the white-haired man.
Lucy opened her mouth to tell the truth, "Brother, I -"
"We were just having a nice chat!" Gojo blurted happily, trying to hide his half-lie. "Lulu's been looking stressed, so I figured I'd take her somewhere to get her mind off things. And it worked!"
Farlan crossed his arms, mostly to hide his clenched fists. "And where did you take her, exactly?"
Gojo let out a pfft before sending Farlan a teasing smirk. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
Lucy ignored the two bickering before heading over to Levi. "Levi -"
She was interrupted again when Gojo appeared behind her. His arm went around her shoulders while his free hand covered her mouth. "I was kidding. I wanted to work on my fighting skills and knew she's been tense the last few days. Figured it was a good enough distraction. My legs are gonna be sore for weeks."
"No fair!" Isabel cried. "I've been trying to train with Lucy for months now!"
"And she feels really bad about it. So, she agreed to train you whenever you two are free."
Levi and Farlan didn't believe him, not one bit.
The eldest Ackerman looked at his sister. "Is it true?"
"No," Lucy said. She went along with the lie. "I never agreed to train Isabel. She cries after every practice."
"I do not. I want to spend some time with my big sis!" Isabel cried. Lucy walked until she stood behind Isabel. Without another word, she karate chopped Isabel's neck. Not hard enough for her to pass out, just enough to prove a point. "Ow! Big sis!"
Gojo laughed hard enough for his hand to fly toward his head as it tilted back. "I think she just proved a point," he said.
"It's not like you to train one-on-one with the new guy," Levi eyed his sister suspiciously.
Gojo scoffed as he walked toward Levi. He had to lean a bit to look him in the eyes as a cocky smirk appeared on his face. "Well, isn't it obvious. I'm way stronger than you."
If looks could kill, then Gojo would be buried six feet under. With the murderous glare Levi's giving him and the small twitch in his hand, Lucy could see that her brother didn't like Gojo one bit. She walked over and yanked the back of his collar to drag him out.
"I need to have a little talk with our subordinate," Lucy stated. Gojo was sitting down, choking, as she dragged him around the corner toward the back entrance. Farlan glared at their retreating figures. Anger and jealousy toward the white-haired male.
Gojo kept thrashing around to get some air in his lungs. "Lulu. Lulu. I can walk," he choked out. "Damn, your grip is strong." Lucy clenched her teeth before throwing Gojo to the ground. Gojo gasped for sweet air. "You think they bought - ack!"
Lucy pressed her foot against his neck. She added a bit more pressure and sneered, "What is your endgame here, Gojo? What exactly do you think you're going to accomplish by making me lie to my brother?" More pressure is added. "If you try lying to me, I'll snap your scrawny neck."
Gojo kept tapping her ankle in a tapout. "Uncle. Uncle! You're crushing my windpipes," he choked. Lucy didn't move. "Is it wrong that I'm looking out for you?"
"I didn't ask you to. And I didn't ask for you to lie for me either." Gojo choked something out. Lucy raised her brow. "What?"
"I said I think I'm gonna pass out." Lucy rolled her eyes before taking her foot off, yet she crossed her arms as she waited for an explanation. Gojo sat up, gasping for air before going into a coughing fit. "Geez, I can see why you have so many clients now."
Lucy growled before kicking the side of Gojo's head, knocking him to the ground again. She knelt before yanking him by the collar of his shirt. "You think this is funny?"
"Can't tell if I should be turned on or laugh," Gojo smirked. Lucy's jaw clenched as she brought her fist up. "I know you're still in love with Farlan!"
"So what?" Lucy didn't deny.
"And that's making you go back to your old ways. Filling the huge hole that he used to occupy. I understand, it sucks living under the same roof as him. Sleeping around with those sleazeballs isn't going to fix it. What you two need is to sit down and talk."
"And what makes you think I'm going to listen to you?" Lucy looked away sadly. "It won't work anyway, he hates me."
"Are you sure?" Gojo asked sarcastically. "He's like your brother. Always glaring at me whenever I'm near y -"
There was this loud static echoing in Gojo's ear. It grew louder and louder until the static revealed something to him. It was future him, or present him, lightly chuckling as his Lucy ran away from him. Part of a towel was over his face. He remembers this day. The day Lucy fell from the sky, he saved her from the police station. She thought she could get away by throwing a towel in his face. That wasn't the strange part. The still photo looked like it was slowly fading away. As if it never happened. As if it's not going to happen.
What's going on? Gojo thought as he took a shaky breath. Why can't I remember meeting her?
Gojo held the side of his head as a loud groan escaped his throat. "You ok?" Lucy questioned. Gojo's vision was coming in and out. A bit hazy. A small headache began to form. He didn't know he fell back until he saw Lucy holding him up.
"Yeah," he said with uncertainty. "Just a bit dizzy."
